Sorry, I'm too flat out to read the thread but I'll try and be online 9am Sat Aussie time.

Can someone less lazy than me summarise the game details. If it's ozzy's map, which I prefer can it please be posted with clear instructions (for the newbies) on exactly where to install it (don't use the .rar format though!)

I prefer marathon speed; simul war is OK; one para per session to be written by all...

Suggest everyone should get AIM and get on Capo's list ASAP, before the session....

It is looking like the next (and FINAL) patch will be coming out next week. I hate to be a buzz kill, but I recommend we wait a week till the last patch is officially released.

Well, that brings up quite a dilemma.

If this is the final patch, we should wait for it to come out. The ultimate reason is not because its cool to have the latest patch, but in the event a sub is needed it would be better for everyone if we used the latest/final patch because a potential sub would be more likely to have this patch than v 1.52.

That being said; we have scheduled a game for tomorrow, and now we might have a (good) reason to postpone it. The only issue I see here is that Kuno and Deity (I hope they read this) would be waking up very early for a game only to find out we postponed it because Ozzy happened upon this information. I'm not sure exactly how we should do this; one option is to vote right now and tally the votes before the session was supposed to begin. We could also just play anyway, but considering the history we've had with screwy patches I don't think that's a good idea.

Deity; we are playing on a Terra map, marathon, noble, all normal victory settings so there is nothing you need to install.

So we don't need any alternative files or to change any settings, everything is generally normal.

Hopefully we can get this solved before the session tomorrow.

I may take another 3 or 4 weeks before the patch is out. And maybe we can just patch and continue to play anyway, who knows.

Are we sure about this?

Can we be sure that we'll be able to repatch the game?

I mean, according to Ozzy the patch is out next week, if this is the case and we can't repatch the game what is the point of starting now?

I would love to start now, but I'm just saying this may mean we can't patch our game after we start. Which for me means I have to use 1.52 at all times because I don't have the space to load in two versions of the game just for this reason. Not to mention all of the problems we had in the last two games, generally, all developed due to patching issues and playability. I certainly didn't start this thread just to repeat the problems we experienced before, and I certainly didn't start this thread to introduce a whole new group of people to the same issues.

We didn't get the input I was hoping we'd get, so we're just going to have to wing it. I do have it on good authority, though, that Ozzy would vote to postpone the game another week to make sure we have the latest and what they are calling "final" patch.

So what is my stance? Basically I am willing to play, but I would advise against it this week.

Believe me, another week of delay may be hard to withstand, but it is NOTHING compared to week after week of failed sessions, so bear that in mind.

I am home right now, it is 2:12 where I am (which is like, 19 GMT I think), so if you need anything AIM me. If you don't have AIM post here because I'll be checking the forums.

Even though I am not in the game - I would advise you guys wait. It just sounds like a recipe for a disaster if there is a patch coming out that soon.

My questions is; Does anyone really think this is the last patch?

The patch should not be an issue as long as noone uses a password, when updating the civ4 files with the latest update, the game files are also updated to be compatible with the latest updae, the only issue has been that passwords have become unusable in a newer patch meaning password protected games becomes impossible to enter, but Firaxis etc have been made aware of this problem, so potentially it will not reoccur anyway.

I say play. If the patch comes (if it comes! There's no official word on that! Not even an unofficial one!!!) we can try to incorporate it. If that doens't work we can chose to wait with patching or to restart.

I'd rather start a game this week and start another game next week. In that case we can even use this game as a trial. A try out.

Which we all will only benefit from!
And if there's no patch we can continue!
