23:00 is 6:00pm and that right about the time I am shutting off the lights at work. 24:00 is 7:00pm which I can make assuming no traffic issues.

Alright, well I think that if we played at 23:00 GMT it would give us the best results.

Right there that would leave us with six players. Its unfortunate that DD can't get home until an hour after we start if we start at this time.

Just so I can be clear on a few things here I am going to try and lineate EXACTLY what this means for the timezones that are involved with this group...

I believe this is correct for everyone involved, so if we intend on starting this game on Friday I need everyone to confirm that these times are accurate and that you can play at these times. Now I already know DD may not be able to play at this time, but the reason I posted it was to make sure we are all on the same page and to see if there is any room for change.

I also wonder if Cognac could play as well?

my best bet has had to drop out due to technical difficulties

his mouse is not working, and its a software problem. he's trying to fix it. also I dont know if he will be willing to play nightime. I will of course do my best to get him with me.

I have another option. 1 of my flatmates may be interested and another friend of mine might be interested. but likely is she wont get the game until thursday and I am afraid the learning curve will be too steep to join our game. I will do my best to expediate the process.

I'd love to, but fridays are no good for me, thats why I didn't speak up until it looked like you might be doing multiple game times. I'm good for Sun - Thur 22:30 EST to about 02:00.

Things change though, so maybe I can get in on the next one. You guys have been trying to coordinate long enough without me gumming up the works with another oddball set of times.

The best thing to do right now would be to go ahead and plan on playing with the six members (LzPrst, Cybershy, Kuno, Deity, Ozzy, and myself) we have confirmed. If we find another couple of players that is good, if not there is nothing wrong with playing a six man game at this point.

I just want to clarify to some of you who may not be aware WHY exactly I feel this way; the Diplogaming community has been built over the course of a few years to include some veteran diplogamers. Throughout this time we have encountered numerous players who have ruined games outright. My personal goal, and a goal I think should be the same for everyone involved in diplogaming, is to end this. In my mind the best way to do it would be to get a solid and reliable cast of players. The best way to do that is to play solid and reliable diplogames. From what I know Cybershy, Deity, Ozzy and myself are vets. Kuno and LzPrst would be new additions, and might I add - welcome additions. While it would be better to have eight players, or seven, or nine, or what have you it would be even worse to delay this game further for the sake of adding two more people.

So far we have been in agreement over the settings, and the version (1.52 btw), so we are in a good position to start. I know at least four of the players we have will serve as the game's "core." I don't mean to say that Kuno and LzPrst aren't going to be reliable, I am just pointing out that normally not every player has been reliable in the diplogames we've had in the past.

With that said, I think if we played at 23:00 GMT this Friday (for some it will start on Saturday morning) with the six guys we have, with a possibility of FlyBoy or some other late-minute additions, we can have a solid game. Hopefully this will gain interest, and hopefully this will help our diplogame roster in the future.

So. If you guys are ready, I am ready. We will paly on a Terra map, with marathon settings, on Noble, with all available victory conditions. Ozzy may not necessarily agree with this, but I think this game should be dubbed "The History of the World V," in honor of the HOTW series of Diplogames.

I just realized, if FlyBoy, DD, and TCognac want to start a new game I'm pretty sure they could get someone like FrankJohnson involved. It would be beneficial to the diplogaming community if we got another game going, so if I were you guys I would start working on that. I can help if you want, but honestly I am not the most popular guy among people here at Apolyton, so I may not be much of a help finding more players.

It's not bad to start with 6 players.
For the next game we might find more players, and then we already know each other which is a good thing!

I'll talk with my brother this evening. He might be #7 but don't count on it.

that we we can play an occassional turn during the week as well and login to the game to micromanage things, have diplomacy meetings, etc.

Are all three of us new additions or has one of us played a diplogame before? If not, it might be kinda' like the blind leading the blind.

TCognac; Deity Dude and Frank Johnson both have diplogame experience, and I'm sure we can put together a few others. There are a lot of diplogamers out there, some of them just have to be contacted directly.

CyberShy, I don't think we will be playing on a pitboss server either. The MORE you have to do in the one session the better, because the game needs time between sessions for diplomacy and posting. I know we're playing on Marathon speed, but the game will probably progress relatively speedily once all of the players have made contact. What we have done in the past is play by direct IP set up. Which means it may take upwards of an hour to get the first session moving. So it may be short. But this is what we have to deal with.

What should occur is this; I'll be online an hour or two before the session to make sure the direct IP is going to work, and by that I mean contact whoever is online from our game and basically try out my connection. I know it is going to be difficult to do this quickly, because Kuno probably won't be here until the time we've established, and I am pretty sure the same goes for Cybershy.

As for LzPrst, Ozzy, and Deity if you can be online around an hour or two earlier that would be a big help for organization/testing.
