What brought you into civ?

Anyway, Colonization for me. Not on the list, shame on the thread starter. I played Civ1 only after I played Col and never got into it as much as I had gotten into Col. I then played Civ2, CivCtP, CtP2, Civ3 and finally Civ4. Briefly only SMAC inbetween, didn't like it that much.

Not posted for ages, but this thread caught my attention

I started with Civ 1 back in the heady days of the Amiga and I'm not sure that any of the versions since have quite captured that same "just one more turn" feeling that the original did - or maybe it was just so long ago that my memory is telling me that nothing beats the Good Old Days

back in the day when Civ4 was released, I sold my soul to Real Life and made a decision not to play Civ4 until I retire. and I'll be retiring in about 40 years.

Ha! first one was CIV II for the playstation! yes, poor old me, (re)loading a game was a double nightmare. did al lot of smoking in those days due to this loading... still, civ II is still the best installment up to now, easy and deep.
