No, no, no. Stop that right now. We finally got rid of the last thread about that, let's not have another pop up!
July 23 sounds good. I just started back to work and should easily be able to afford it by then, along with a kick ass computer to play it on. I'm going for top of the line this time, no more dicking around with second best.
You just can't accept that they're finally going to be in the game.

It's barely worth reporting but for completeness sake, here's the European cover. Most notable difference is that the European version will once again be a DVD and not a CD as the American version is, but the same was true for Civ4 and Warlords so that shouldn't surprise anyone.
Don't ask me, ask Take Two: all their European releases are DVDs. But the real question is why the heck is the US still stuck on CDs? I know that it's often a challenge for designers to fit all their contents on one CD and they frequently have to cut back on some stuff to make it all fit -- yes, even for XPs. In fact I don't think I've ever been involved with any project where this wasn't at least somewhat of a concern (maybe CivCity: Rome, I don't remember, but I was only fairly casually involved in that so I might simply not have been aware of it).
Well, Warlords was just a little over 400 MB - that leaves plenty of room for even a larger XP on a CD. And using CD's ought to improve their margins a little bit.
That's silly enough. Americans are richer and have, on average, a better computer, so are more likely to have DVD drives. Europeans are the opposite, particularly the more backward countries. The vast majority of PCs here still is without DVD drives, though it looks like they're finally selling DVD-ones as baseline this year. I didn't even have a DVD drive myself when Civ4 came out, though.

Is that supposed to be funny? My first computer with a DVD drive must be soon 8 years now. It came slowly as a standard some 6-7 years ago. You can't get a computer without a DVD drive, either reader or burner(pretty much standard now). But OTOH, this is Western Europe, it might be different in the East?

Norway has one of the highest per-capita GDPs in the world, no?
Over here, the problem is that computer stores sell pretty crappy computers as their "average" computer, which is what most people with no technical knowledge buy. This year these PCs finally start including DVD drives, but that's because a DVD drive costs like 2$ more than a CD-RW only drive.
