Hate to break up the discussion but I do actually have a potential bug to report.

It seems every time I select random for climate and sea level, I always get moderate climate and medium sea level. This has been since vanilla civ retail I believe.

I believe I've found a bug too (or is there something I'm missing here?):

In my current game I just got a great engineer, giving me the possibility to get Machinery. I decide to see if trading it to the other civs could give me something. After visiting them all I conclude that none of them has that tech (it didn't show up in the trade screen for any of the civs... it wasn't red or anything, just wasn't there), while everybody has Metal Casting
I decided to take the tech, and the same turn I went to ask all the civs what they would give for it. Now all of the sudden they all have it? I couldn't put the tech on the table for any of the other civs
This space is empty... or is it?

Did you visit the leader or check on the F4 screen? Under the F4 screen, some techs are listed as "can't tade" and other "won't trade". Of course both arn't always shown depending on techs. I don't know what the difference between them is, but it could be that "can't trade" items arn't listed in the trading screen and maybe machinery was in that section? Just mentioning it in case you have a savegame and can check.

After reloading the old save I found the bug: Even though it shows that you get the tech, you can't sell it until next turn

              1. On my machine, the Barb Scenerio still crashes, apprently while trying to bring up the Barb Scernerio special screen.

              2. With grid lines on, still crashes apprently randomly on my machine. (With grid lines off, it doesn't crash)

              3. In the Mongols scenerio, the double speed desert promotion doesn't work.

I hope this is a bug, and not a problem with my computer, but ever since I installed this upgrade, I am informed of 1 or more corrupted files. Also, for no apparent reason, the graphics on my computer is often reset. Does anyone know what this is about? I hope this upgrade is not seriously flawed, becacause ever since I instaled it, I have been playing Civ4 practically nonstop!

Using the grid puts some extra strain on your video card. If you're borderline, having grids on can be all it takes to push the card over the edge. Try turning down your graphic options a bit, you probably won't be crashing.

Typically if you get a new tech in the middle of the turn (not at the beginning like when you researched it), it's isn't avalable for trading. But you can trade for it the next turn.

Have you tryied to trade for it after passing turn ?

                    • As mentioned 4 post above your post I noticed that you have to wait until the next turn to trade it

                      • Warlord 2.08 trade route bug

                        Hi

I am playing a game where I (Greek) have just signed an open borders agreement with Spain and America. We are all running decentralization and we are all connected by trade routes (road, river, coast - take your pick). But there are no foreign trade routes to any of my cities. I have researched currency so each city has two trade routes.

Another weird thing: Five of my cities have trade routes to Athens and Sparta. There are another two cities with one route each to Athens or Sparta.

I posted the game save over on CF (don't know how to attach them here): http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=195948

The annoying thing is I have ToA in Athens and I need to foreign trade routes to fix up my economy after a long war. In fact I converted to Buddhism to get the routes. Very frustrating and not worth continuing until the bug is fixed.

                        Any tips? Thanks

                        Godel

                        • I do not understand that one either. You have open borders, noone has mercantilism, you have a road connection. You have discovered his cities, even (at least the ones from Roosevelt). It's strange.

                          • Perhaps your empire is so much more developed than the foriegn empires that the doesmatic trade routes are currently more valuable than the foreign ones?

                            • Use the worldbuilder to place a few spies in foreign cities and check whether they have trade routes with your civ (then reload).

If the AI cities have trade routes to yours then joncnunn is correct.

Check the diplomacy screens. Can you sell/gift resources to the AI's? If so that confirms you should be able to have trade routes with them.
Never give an AI an even break.

                              • Does there exist a way to get rid of enemy units without going into direct battle? I just lost 15+ modern tanks inside enemy territory in one turn. During this turn I only saw one battle take place, which was the enemy attacking a modern tank on the tile just next to my stack of tanks (it was during this battle I noticed that my tanks were missing)

I don't have a save from the turn before
