  • XP2's Focus

The next expansion has a focus like Warlords did. What do you think it emphasizes? Why?

Granted, these are over generalizations, what do you think needs the most improving?

I think religion and science will be the focus. Looking at the civs that have yet to come out, and probably will be showing up (Mayas, Sumerians), I think something in those realms may come into play. Also, Angkor Wat is already here, and I think a Khmer civ may show up (another religious civ).

What needs the most improving? Diplomacy, though its not in need of a complete overhaul.

I accidentally voted trade. I meant religion.

I voted diplomacy but I would like changes to trade as well.

all of the above options. I'd like to see all those options upgraded (including war- nuke subs, paratroopers etc).

Diplomacy (it currents blows), Trade, then religion

Plus some more military stuff - more units etc
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Diplomacy is number one priority, next comes religion

It should focus on water and air elements. Units, but also other things.

Oh, and economics. I want more economics in civ than just a slider

So what combinations of these general themes could make a better, more specific theme for an expansion?

                    Civlization IV: Entente

                    More manageable trade routes.
                    Minor religion features added.
                    No new civics.
Espionage might be changed by making spies available for a longer period of the game (I don't see new spy features happening).
At most one new trait based around bonuses to trade routes (unneccesary due to the large number of unused trait combinations).
Obligatory new units though as it is new naval and air units aren't necessary; just a change in the ways the AI uses them.

                    Major diplomacy changes:

                    1) AIs which recognise the value of keeping other, weakening civs strong to act as alternative counters to stronger civs. Probably too drastic a change to be easily codable so won't happen.
                    2) Multiple party peace talks so that all civs at war have the option to peace at the same time. May also include other regional powers wishing to ensure their power isn't negatively affected. Probably too drastic a change to be easily codable so won't happen.
                    3) Added options for peace and diplomacy:
                    i) Return to former borders. A civ which has made strong gains at the expense of a weak civ may be forced to return lands by stronger civs with which it as at war and regional powers not involved in the war. Probably too drastic a change to be easily codable so won't happen.
ii) Border treaties to act as a counter to 'our close borders spark tensions' where two civs agree on a border between them.

                            More War is for hippies!

Wait, that doesn't work, does it?

Anyway, this is a vote for expansion of factors other than combat. Let it be trade, religion, or diplomacy, whatever. For a builder like me, Warlords pushed things a lot towards the combat side. This has been fun, in a way. However, I need Firaxis to save me from the dark side of Civ that is Warlords.
