Back on topic...

Time to throw myself into the fire here.

America should be in Civ. most cultures that have been considered world powers since 4000 B.C. are in, and America happens to be one right now (and has been for some time).

Other examples in the game would be Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome, Arabia, China, Mongolia, Spain, France, England, and Russia. The Incans and Mayans can be included for the pre-Columbian new world.

Egypt was a great civilization for thousands of years, Mongolia for around 100. Each spread their influence differently (through religion, arts, or warfare), but they still made a mark. This includes America today, no matter what anyone thinks of their policies or their influence.

If anyone really doesn't like America in civ, you can change the code so they don't ever show up or destroy them with Praetorians when you meet them. I personally use Immortals.

I know someone will have a rebuttal, but I just needed to rant.

That's true. And what it really comes down to, people, is that Firaxis and Civilization had to appeal to the masses, and it just so happens that there are many Americans who buy the game.

Sorry but this has like four pet peeves of mine at one time.
1) Anyone can sue anybody for anything. Whether you'll win or loose is a different story.

2) The lawsuit wasn't that McDonalds was making their coffee too hot, it was that they were not abiding by Department of Health codes saying hot beverages were to be kept under 140F. And admitted that they were violating health codes... in court.

3) The government doesn't just wander around seizing random peoples assets because they have nothing else to do on a Thursday. Yes, they make mistakes but they are the exception. Of how many people that get taxed, how many are audited? Of the ones that are audited, how many are found deficient? Of the ones found deficient, how many are truely innocent? I think you'll find this last number quite a bit smaller than the first.

4) If the government left itself open to lawsuits it couldn't run. You'd have every Happy Harry Hard-on with a grudge suing them twice a day. And three times on Sunday. Sad that to protect itself from the people it must rape the people. But then, if we lived in a perfectly rational world we wouldn't need government.

If they didn't keep the coffee under 140F, doesn't that mean they were making it too hot?

I think America SHOULD be in Civ. Aztecs and Incans too.
But what about Mali (???-I found out about is when I started to play Civ, but maybe it is great...). And warlords Civs: Celts, and Zulus... Africans are maybe good (Zulus are like RSA, and Mali is the 3rd Civ of Africa...). But Celts? Yeah, they were good too... But as I said on apolyton twice: There should be more Civs... For example Polish Civ (in time of 200 years it was top 3 powerfull and large in Europe...). But not only this, there are about eight Civs, that are not in Civ, and I am sad about it ...

But my opinion about USA is that they SHOULD be... They absolutely changed world's history, although they are so young. They are the Rome of the present... I know the Middle East nations don't like USA too much (without Judaism), so I won't tell any more about them, but all the Civs: Arabia, USA, Persia, Ottomans are good for me, and they SHOULD be in Civ... And I am thinking if Israel Civ should be in Civ, but I don't know the opinion of players... There are real many Civs, that should be, and I'll tell you sth: THE MORE CIVS THE BETTER ...

If you assert that the states of Eire and the United Kingdom are or have been at war, then that does actually have a meaning, in international law as well as in Standard English.

You may choose to be mercurial or inconsistent with your personal definitions of war, but that really doesn't interest me.
