It's because they adjust their science rate after you ask for all the gpt.

The 'unlimited gold', while true, is compensated by their lowering research.
I just tried a dirty trick: My capitulate-vassal had 3 gpt available, so I tried canceling a previous deal (2 gpt for my furs), hoping to get 5 for them. After canceling, he only had 1 gpt available. Must've increased research.
Perfect reward for "a dirty trick."

Regarding biology and my (possibly unfounded) hatred thereof...
The effects seem to be as follows:
- it lets you build a regular farm (+1 to food production) on any arable terrain, regardless of availability of fresh water
- farms with access to fresh water receive a +1 bonus to existing food production
It says nothing about the need fresh water for the bonus in the tech description or in the extended goodness of the civilopedia, and hence I smoulder with generic rage.
BTW, regarding what Jaybe said, I haven't noticed any effects of diplomatic relations on the productivity of my farms pinching water from my neighbours. Can anyone speak to this?

I just had a weird sound bug. After moving a bunch of units (nothing special) I heard a loud crash/scratching sound. Scratching as in the sound you get when you listen to a radio station that is almost out of reach (or you're not listening to the exact frequency)This space is empty... or is it?

I have now heard the sound several times, always during my turn (and nobody are at war at the time)
On another note, here's a bug that really annoys me: When my enemy becomes a vassal of another civ during wartime, the other civ automaticly decleares war on me. They should give me an option to sign peace when this happens (just like the popup when a city wants to join my empire)This space is empty... or is it?

Thx, hadn't seen that thread
Does anyone know if the anti-nuke AI bug has been fixed? It's boring when the AI never builds nukes, and I would like to see the AI say "My words are backed with nuclear weapons" againThis space is empty... or is it?

Playing on prince, and I have never seen the build nukes, at least not before the XPack. Right now I'm only playing my second Warlords game, and so far the AI haven't had any chance to build nukes (I'm ahead in tech, and I can't build the Manhattan Project yet)This space is empty... or is it?

Here's another bug I have noticed... or at least I believe it is a bug...
Here's the situation:
The Celts has a protection pact with the Aztecs, the Aztecs has the Vikings as a vassal state
When I attack the Vikings, Aztec decleares war on me (making the defense contract void), while the Celts are at peace with everybody
Shouldn't it have been that if I attack the vassal, then I also attack the master (and his/her other vassals), and at the same time make the Celts declear war on me, because of their defense contract?
This space is empty... or is it?

That is a bug that will be fixed in the patch.
See this thread...

Not a bug - more of a tidy up the game - for better gameplay.
To build the Castle you need the City Walls.
When you research Economics - the Castle becomes obsolete and disappears from the build queue.
The City Walls are still there - but are useless. They should disappear when the Castle does."What if somebody gave a war and nobody came?" Allen Ginsberg

City walls aren´t useless.
They don´t get obsolete and still give 50% defense against meelee units.
So, as long as the culture in your city is below 50%, they might still be useful sometimes.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

If you have researched Economics and the AI is still using Melee units, why have you not attacked and destroyed them - unless you are a very pacifist builder."What if somebody gave a war and nobody came?" Allen Ginsberg

When in the empire city display screen and after you sort your cities by something where your capital is not the lead city(hammers, food, etc etc) and you then change the production of any of your cities, it reverts back to its default settings without reverting the founded on date or the capital. It doesn't actually change the capital, but there is something wrong when it lists Rome as at a founding of 1200 A.D.
