Crazy Banana Addict Guy seems to be the second most popular among the "new" leaders. I have had good luck in the new game with Louis XIV. (? ) Cultural does have value in the early game. Industrious lets you get The SoL and Triple Gorges so you can rock in the late game. UU is not great as I noted but can be used to cause disruption, and the UB is a bit strange with a free artist from a science building. Game is still a lot of fun.

They almost were. Augustus, (Octavian) entered his majority the same year of Julius' assassination and was beginning to sit in on political councils with his great-uncle. Or course saying "if Julius had lived," is sort of like saying "if John F. Kennedy had lived," in this country.

Regarding Arrian's comment, I think Creative is underrated.

Yean, if you're referring to the simultaneous cancellation of "Deadwood" and the final demise of "The Sopranos," they are all going. "Rome" was evidently filmed for a second season, which will probably take the young Octavian into his conflict with Mark Antony, but that will be it. It was reportedly a very expensive show to film, with a large cast and locations modified in actual downtown Rome with a high commitment to historical accuracy. Great, but like "Deadwood," it didn't bring a lot of new subscribers to HBO, like "The Sopranos" or "Curb Your Enthusiasm" or even the nauseating "Six Feet Under."

We should probably stay on topic, but you can Google this and get a lot of commentary from fans of these cancelled shows. Some are threatening to cancel HBO. Cirran Hinds portrayal of Julius Caesar will probably become a television classic, regardless.

Edit: Oh, I guess Dregor edited his own post and corrected himself, after I responded. Well, that's all anyone needs to know about "Rome." great television, while it lasted.

Having finally tried enough of the leaders to have some sort of an informed opinion, I voted for Ragnar of the Vikings - funny thing, because I didn't expect to like them. Of cource, Ragnar is only my favourite on a map with lots of water. I'd hate to play the Vikings on a highlands map.

The UB is great - having every ship start with an extra movement point is significant, and helps in the race for the circumnavigation bonus too... which, if you win that, gives you +2 movement points right off the bat. On an Islands or Archipelago map that's awesome.

I also like their UU, which I previously badmouthed - give them city raider promotions to add to the +10% city attack bonus they start with, and then later you can upgrade them to grenadiers and then infantry, and you'll have a real great city conquering force throughout the game, able to attack across rivers without penalties as a bonus.

Finally the traits are good also - Financial is especially great on a water map, and Aggressive helps with giving those berserkers a good start on life.

So therefore I conclude that Ragnar kicks butt!

They did - series one was broadcast last year.
