Problem is, if you play as Catherine, she doesn't get to play the saucy wench when doing diplomacy.

Despite the fact that I hate it when he appears as an AI and his UU is the worst in the game, and I really don't enjoy playing as him, I had to vote for Monty. I play random everything at either Prince or Monarch and 4 out of my top ten scores are Monty. As this is a game (which many people seem to forget). The object is to win and the score (while imperfect) is the only way to compare wins. Thus, I had to vote for someone who I don't like to play.

It doesn't seem to matter how I start, I end up with domination or conquest victories. I could get any of the other victories by holding off the end game, but why drag it on. Heck, I'd like to see a setting to allow me to just claim a win once I get to the end game.
Cathy is pretty well balanced... you get financial, which will help during the whole game. Granted, creative has it's limits, but is great in the early game as you grab resources. Cossack's are probably hands down the best UU if you can survive until they become available. They have a long shelf life, and are truly one of the most effective units compared to their normal counter part.
Getting a scout instead of a warrior allows fast board access... and her starting techs are solid. I'm not surprised to see her leading the pack in this vote.
She would be leading by more, it's just that Creative is probably the most underestimated trait. For some reason many people tend to think of it as weak.

It isn't one of the best overal traits... but I think it's VERY effective early in the game, when I need it most. When you need to stake out territory and early resources, it's a very powerful trait. People will claim that it can be easily duplicated with buildings, but I really don't want to waste my early production on such things... I want to concentrate on getting out on the board.
and cheap theatres are good when going on the offensive. You take an enemy city, pop rush the theatre after it comes out of revolt and combined with creative, in just a few turns, it's borders can start pushing back.
After obelisks are retired, it can take awhile for buiding culture in new conquered cities.
And as Catherine I seem to get more border cities to flip to my side without a struggle or taking a dip hit.
So while it's less effective later in the game, it still delivers some positives.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I dissagree, I think creative is very useful, especially if you are neck-and-neck in culture with some one without creative, which happens alot for me.
