^ for Tony...it's a bit long in the tooth, but perhaps something here will be of use.
And who knows...one day I might be able to come back and write some more!

Hiya Snoopy, and thanks for the warm welcome, both here and in yonder thread...
I just might take you up on both of those notions, but first...I must get some more BTS games under my belt....

had a great PB game where I could not get back to my main civ, so went with a middle ranked civ by score.
The fun of it was little to no gold, research was horrible, had a fair number of cities.
I had noticed nearly everyone was budhist. So when I was infected with Christanity, I made my way to get missionaries ASAP.
Took a good bit of doing, but was able to get research up to 30%, +15 gpt begroe Willem took the rod to me.
We were great neighbors for the longest time, only denied 1 request.
My thought was...well maybe because I had spread so much religon to him ???
Everyone ought to try a come from behind game, great experience
Havent seen this thread in 2 years! I think I made alot of posts here... gonna look.

The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?...So with that said: if you can not read my post because of spelling, then who is really the stupid one?...
Thanks for the bumpage! I've been in the "thinkin' about it" stage of writing some new material for a long while, but...since I'm almost done with the other project I'm workin' on, I think I'm prolly about to leave the "thinkin' about it" stage, and actually write something...

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila
Aye just reading your post from before and noting how much of it doesn't apply to BTS heh.
Specificly I am not sure you can extort tech from people and with spying now is founding a religon completly useless since it isn't how you get to look at what is in cities around you?
And wow you bring a lot to a party to take a city....eight archers for a city with two archers defending it wow.
I'd love to buy a guide for civ IV from you, but you have to write it first .
Also which game speed are your stratigies usually developed for? I am not sure they would work on some of the slower speeds...marathon for instance. As well, if you have a lot of civs I think getting rid of one of them and then expanding quickly into his territory can be a powerful strategy.
Lets say you start next to a civ and you take him out completly. You have probably just doubled the area that you can move settlers into before you start moving into others borders. Yes some of this will go to other civs close to him and you risk leaving economy behind to long as you pump out settlers but really a weak one or two city civilization by about the middle ages I am not sure how useful an "ally" they would be..I'd rather have the land and be that much closer to conquering the world.
On a multicontenint map this is even more powerful since it would take other civilizations a longer time to come find you and you could move more slowly into the land around. Also given the war wearyness even in the early age I don't think keeping war up and keeping an alive civ from expanding (so you can move slowly into his territory) is a viable strategy.
