The Skunk Works is an experimental aircraft research, design, and manufacturing team.
"The Skunk Works® was formed in June of 1943 in Burbank, Calif. The Air Tactical Service Command (ATSC) of the Army Air Force met with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation to express its need for a jet fighter. A rapidly growing German jet threat gave Lockheed an opportunity to develop an airframe around the most powerful jet engine that the allied forces had access to, the British Goblin."
And
"The Skunk Works’ aircraft recognized include: the F-104 Starfighter (1958), the USAF A-11 Mach 3 aircraft, precursor to the famed SR-71 Blackbird (1963), the F-117A Nighthawk(1989), the U-2S/ER-2 Dragonlady (1998), and the JSF/X-35B Short Take-Off Vertical Landing (STOVL)."

Based on one of the concept art images we saw, I'd assume Unique Buildings refer to actual buildings -- not wonders. Maybe something like this:
Americans - Mall, repl Supermarket
Arabs - Bazaar, repl Marketplace
Aztecs - Sacrificial Temple, repl Temple
Chinese - Martial Arts school?, repl Barracks
Egyptians - House of Life, repl Library
English - Joint Stock Company, repl Bank
French - Museum, repl Colosseum
Germans - Rathaus, repl Courthouse
Greeks - Gymnasium, repl Library
Incans - Yachaywasi, repl University
Indians - Fort, repl Castle
Japanese - Shiro, repl Castle
Malians - Madrassa, repl University
Mongols - Stable, repl Barracks
Persians - Square, repl Marketplace
Romans - Forum, repl Marketplace
Russians - Ballet, repl Colosseum
Spanish - Citadel, repl Castle
(Note: no, I don't have any insight info, otherwise I obviously wouldn't be posting this)

I hope the first.
I suspect they will offer some additional benefits compared to ordinary buildings.
I think this will add another layer to the strategy, as some nations will be better than others at some goals, irrespective of the leaders' traits. The problem with leadership is inevitably: Who will play God?

Most of all, I don't think they would make temples unique buildings. Why? Because they are already unique, in the sense of being religion-specific. It would be very weird to have the Aztecs build a "Christian sacrificial temple" for example. If they introduce unique religious buildings for various civs, then my guess would be it is done at the Obelisk level.
Also, both a museum and a colloseum are pretty modern inventions and certainly not fit to replace a colloseum which appears rather early in game - it would be very bizarre to have Russian peasants and horse archers get their morale improved by watching a bunch of people in tights. The problem with leadership is inevitably: Who will play God?

Most of these ideas are pretty neat, however I disagree with some guesses.

Edit: along the same lines, I was actually thinking of using a sports stadium (a la Superdome) as American building since malls are not really uniquely American (even if Americans invented it), but again, there's nothing for it to replace.Last edited by Locutus; March 29, 2006, 04:33.

Because that's how UUs work, not that big a stretch..
Also probably necessary due to multiplative math. If you give a Madrassa +50% science on top of a university, that's a pretty damn powerful bonus that will seriously unhinge game balance. Having it replace a University and maybe give +60% science and maybe +1 commerce or happy makes it much easier to handle while still being worth building.
Carthaginians - Cothon, repl Harbor (might be hard to balance though since the value depends heavily on map type; alt: Tophet, repl Temple/Obelisk)
Celts - Broch, repl Obelisk
Vikings - Hill Fort, repl Castle
