Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I'd favour Alex as I'm interested in leaders who ask to be played according to either of their traits. To this end, I could post up starts for Boney and/or Inca if people are interested.
I am not really in love with this starting situation, either, but have played up to 1 AD. So far I have 4 cities and have researched up to within one turn of Paper. I've met 3 of the AI so far, and should be able to trade fairly soon for Monotheism, Metal Casting and Horseback Riding. I already have Philosophy, Monarchy, Calendar, Construction and Currency. My cities each have a library, the capital has the Academy, and my beaker total now is a bit over 150 at 100% science. I have not tried for any wonders, yet, partly for comparing how well one can do without them.
I was gonna go crazy and lay down 10 cities, but on turn 2 I saw the stone and that changed everything. I also remembered the difficulty level we are at, so 10 cities would be too expensive. Then there's the tundra. Not sure that land will pay to settle.
At 1 AD. 5 Cities, 171 beakers/turn. I'm 10 turns from completing Education. I don't have Construction or Philos, but I do have Metal Casting and Monotheism (and paper of course)
Wonders: My capitol has Academy, Pyramids and Hanging Gardens (why did I build that?) I'm 10 turns from finishing the Great Library.
I've met 4 others.
The bad:
I have no religions. I missed the Oracle. I should have gotten that 6th city out for the 6 Universities I"ll need ASAP.
This thread is awesome - well done RJ and everyone.
I reinstalled Civ4 today. It'll take me a game to remember how to build settlers and stuff but then I'll join. It will be good to battle Solo once more, and this time you can't hide behind your caravans!

One odd thing about solo's game is that Capac didn't settle the other half of our Island.
While exploring that side of the island, my scout put up several "No Tresspassing" signs.
Also, if AI research choices are randomized, Capac might have taken much longer to choose and research Sailing in my game.
Welcome Dr. Spike! Always good to see another player here, but it looks like mdbill is the one to look out for lately, as he has posted some impressive results in the last few games.
I started a warmup game last weekend. It is only a monarch game but the land was awful and I was on my own on the continent, with all other 6 civs together, and uncontactable until astronomy.
I don't think I could have played it that much better, but am still struggling to keep up with dominant AI, who is researching very fast for monarch.
