    CNN then?

It was fairly big news there for a while.
    From that article:

Lemaire estimates there could have been as many as 20 Jameses in the city with brothers named Jesus and fathers named Joseph.
So it hardly can be used as definitive proof of Jesus' existence.

Oh - never said it was at all. Just posting it as a FYI, since the subject came up.

Actually, I don't even think you could truely prove Julius Ceaser existed. There's writings of course.... but that's about it.

Wasn't looking for a debate, just thought it was interesting. I try to avoid politics and issues of faith on web forums usually hehe

There's more evidence on the existance of Jesus then on about all other people from the ancient age.

But it's more anecdotal than concrete. And anecdotal evidence is much easier to manipulate.

But some of those writings are official documents of the Roman empire. And others come from a wide variety of sources that are considered reliable, like Roman historians etc. Plus there's statues and other physical evidence that point to his having actually existed.

Such as? We have lots of evidence of the existence of many people from that era and earlier. Nobody disputes that Julius Caesar existed - there is tons of contemporary writings about him. There are no records of Jesus at all until about 30 years after he supposedly died. There's so little evidence of his existence that the fact that someone found a tomb of a person named James with a brother named Jesus was considered significant, even though both Jesus and James were common names.

I think we've already determined that they're not really saying anything, so I don't see what else we can discuss that is on topic.

Well, if noone has anything else to contribute, it will die. Such is the fate of all threads (except the Picture thread in A/C )

Just as a side note: CTP2 offered Israel as a playable country, with David as the default ruler.

I always enjoyed making a fascist Israel and kicking serious ass.
