Indeed. Those were the days - build three chariots and win the game!

There are FOUR galleys in that picture at 1980BC. What's the earliest date that 4 galleys and a couple of chariots could be deployed in Civ 4? Much later, surely.

Marathon + Slavery Rush, dude. Give me a Sea City and I can get 4 galleys up.
As for the chariots, that'll take some doing.

Aro, you could actually run that game on your comp? I can´t even play Alpha Centauri on my comp, it´s too new

I might have to dig out my Colonisation CD. Its the nearest thing I have to Civ 1 nostalgia!

That reminds me... has anyone started on a Colonization mod for Civ4?

I never got into Colonization (didn't get the game until a few years ago, but didn't get to play it), but it does sound interesting

Zoidberg: I can play Civ1 on my comp(not sure if both Civ for Win and Civ for DOS works, but one of them does for sure), but SMAC doesn't work.

Cort: Either that or you could get yourself Civ1 through the Net or something.

I'm running the four versions of the franchise without any problem...

                      That's why I'm a happy man!

Seriously, I'm very impressed with Civ I. How could I miss that when it was released?

VetLegion, did you make those pics youself? I play civ1(DOS version) under winxp and it works like a charm but screenshots are simply impossible to make

You know, I am alos confused by the graphics in civ4 but once I increase my total playing time from 6 to 600 hours the graphics will be as clear as ever

I didn't get it until around the time that Civ 3 came out, so I only got to play a few games before getting into the new one. What I really liked (apart from the nostalgic graphics & interface) was the commodity production system and the training of specialist (yes!) workers for the different sectors of the economy. That was superb - I'd love something like that in Civ. Combat was minimal unless you played the Evil Spanish until the dust up with the Even More Evil home country at the end. Actually I only played the British so I never got to try the other three.

You can also get to tell George III where to put his pinky ring.
