  • There is something wrong here, if you click on the end-turn icon, normaly you would do that when it is red, when it is green some cities may be left without any production and will not start to produce anything before you manualy tell them what to do.

    • Then don't do it when it's green?

Yeah, that's a bug that needs to be fixed.

              • No it isn't. If you end the turn before issuing your orders to either units or cities that's your problem.

If you got a warning in the next turn I would agree but the city without a workorder just sit there and does nothing.

                    • I have installed the new patch, but some reason I am having the opposite effect on my computer. I keep getting errors every so often of bad memory allocation and then the game exits tomy desktop. One game I am playing now, my computer keeps crashing on year 1450 AD, I have quite a few cities on the map and in that turn I built two world wonders in two different cities. When it shows the first world wonder movie, it does not show any video and start getting really slow. By the time it gets to the second city with the second wonder the computer just sits there for a while then crashes. When I look at the memory usage it is why off the charts taking up 1.5 GB of memory( I only have 512 mb installed on my computer so it starts to use virtual memory.) If someone could give me some help with this problem I would appreciate it. I can also post my saved game once I get home.

By your logic, the program shouldn't tell you when a bunch of barbarians are running loose in your empire. It is your own problem if you can't spot them.

AFAIK, the end turn button is WAD- A red button means nothing left to do, green button means you can build/move something yet. The interface is clearly telling you there is something left to do. Barbarians are a completely seperate matter, indicated by text alerts and corresponding icons...

                            • The 1.52 patch has vastly improved the game on my PC, from virtually unplayable to occasionally irritating. I still have some problems (losing the mouse, losing the monitor, etc) but I don't want to make too much of a fuss about them as my PC is very low spec and it wouldn't really be fair. In any event it's due for a massive upgrade in the next two or three weeks (touch wood, cross fingers, salt over left shoulder, etc). I can't say how much I'm looking forward to having a high spec box.

One thing I will complain about is that Civ4 doesn't save my custom settings. It saves the map settings, etc, but not the number of AIs, the difficulty level, victory criteria, and things like city razing, etc. Civ3 did the same thing and it bugged the hell out of me then and it's bugging the hell out of me now. There's no excuse for it. It's just lazy programming. I've got my favourite settings and I hate having to reset everything every single time I start a new game.

BTW, is there a switch in the ini file that shuts Leonard Nimoy up? I like the tech boxes popping up but I can't stand his voice overs.

Set speech volume to zero under options/audio.

I loved his voiceovers the first few times I played, but they quickly get old.
