I was only two rounds from my cultural victory, playing on monarch, when that "$§"$!§°§°²³³!! Aztec bastard flew into space..... But since this is my second game, I know now that if i started over on the same map i would have achived it. Didnt invent calendar until it was no other tech options... and that was in the 1900s something. Just to get those Obelisks keep on pumping culture.....

Great Artist culture bombs are fun in the early game. One civ declared war right after I set it off though. Culture will cause unrest in a city after it drops the civ influence to 0%.
City unrest somehow interacts with military units you have fortified in the city. I saw some damage to two fortified Redcoats because of it. However the city came out of the cultural unrest and stayed mine.
I had another city, I took it militarily, lose all the land directly around it due to a neighboring civ. With this city the two Redcoats I had stationed in it didn't prevent the unrest from succeeding and it went to that other civ.

Can you tell me how choppy it was? And is there such a thing as an external video card? a usb type?“I know that you believe you understand what you

Playing on Noble dificulty with Ghandi (India) i am behind in techs but ahead in Culture at 1905.
I have used 4 artists as culture bombs to grab important resources that the opponent had controll over. It's important to get the culture production up fast as big cities tend to grab back the bombed area. (offcourse sending in another artist to bomb buys you more time )Lost sinse civilization 1.

I have used cultural bombs against my neighbors Egyptians too... And the AI did the same! They dropped the cultural bomb just two turns after I did it, and reverted everything! In fact, their city was much more developed, and they gained a lot of tiles.
Smart Hatshepsut! And she looks yummy, too... Like Halle Berry!

Personally, I've found the Great Artist's Culture Bomb to be my favorite action out of any Great Person. Nothing is more satisfying than being able to have control over those annoying borders without going to war."Compromises are not always good things. If one guy wants to drill a five-inch hole in the bottom of your life boat, and the other person doesn't, a compromise of a two-inch hole is still stupid." - chegitz guevara
"Bill3000: The United Demesos? Boy, I was young and stupid back then.
Jasonian22: Bill, you are STILL young and stupid."

There was no culture bomb in Civ3. A culture bomb is an immediate one-time increase of culture. What you describe is the normal way of producing massive culture by increasing the rates that would make culture production go faster - that is not a culture bomb."Compromises are not always good things. Still, civ4 seems to be a little too much dependant on great peopleI will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

However, in Civ III, you could put heavy culture-rich wonders, that did have an fairly quick reaction to rival civs.

Let's be old school in our definition of "culture bomb".
IMO, teutonic_knight is more correct in defining "culture bomb". It's not just GA's dropping masterpieces on a city. In years past (Civ3) the term "culture bomb" was used to describe building massive amounts of culture improvements in a city/cities near the AI to expand one's borders and shrink theirs. I for one will continue to use that definition of culture bomb in Civ4...it's not JUST a masterpiece, but also the theatres, etc. with it. IMHO.Peace out.Let Them Eat Cake
