IS it just me or does Civ4 become rather dull fast?

80% of my Civ 4 time is Multiplayer. I play against AI when I want to test a new strategy.

Also, playing against AI is fun when you want to achieve a conquest victory.
The problem with leadership is inevitably: Who will play God?

I agree completely. I find the game almost bewildering in how many different options there are. Maybe I just have to learn the game, but it sure seems more complex to me. I'm reconsidering all of the mod ideas I had that would have increased the game's complexity. It's just not as obvious as Civ3 what to do.

For me a "good" AI is one that outplays you not one that cheats like hell, which i expect it will on the top lvl and civ 3 did in almost every aspect from prince upwards

Games become extreamly boring when you find your self trapped on a tiny little bit of land thats 90% tundra and by the time you manage to get off your rock you find all teh AIs had a green paradise overflowing with resources and about 3 times the land area
The other little trick civ 3 had was everybody in the world gets coal cept you - no railways you fall too far behind in the tech race and even if you do manage to aquire it by force its usually too late by then
Ah the joys of taking an enamy city just so see it revolt back next turn and take your entire army with it....
This is why civ 3 sucked badly, civ 4 occasionally upsets me with the land masses i get but on the whole what ever ways the AI cheats (and i have no doubt that it does) are hidden well enough for the game to be enjoyable

No i dont think the AI "blows" but its deffo got a few issues

Civilization games should be single player games with an option to play multi player, not multiplayer games with a single player tacked on and i would enjoy being beaten by an intelligent AI much more than beating an AI that cheated and then lost because i found a way to exploit its unability to really play the game
Is a truly intelligent AI possible ? i dont know... but galciv (i think) asks you to upload your strategy at the end of every game into a database from which your game can then download strats to help the AI play better
          good idea imo

The weird thing for me with Civ 4 is that when I'm away from it, i don't have much desire to play. When I start playing though, I can't pull myself away. Maybe I've just been too busy lately.

I think the game is great and they fixed everything that bothered me about previous civ games (I started with Civ2).

For those who don't like it...try and approach this as a brand new game, especially if you've played since the original. A lot is different and old strategies not working may temp you into thinking there is a problem with the game.

One thing i did which was really fun was make a huge map with high seas...I had to stop playing in the modern era due to my computer not being able to keep up...maybe if they fix that memory leak I can continue my game

The AI knows how to play better than I do. It is like the little kid who hears the joke about a man who sees a chicken standing on the corner. Still, I wonder again why war can be so much fun.
