      Perhaps I should rephrase that.

Why can't you take random traits?

Customize a game and let it randomly select the leader you will use. That's pretty random trait selection. Of course, you may not get the starting tech or UU that you want, but it is a way to randomly select traits.

          ACK!

Uranium and oil resources appear way before you can actually do anything with them. Also a couple of times a rival empire that was way behind - not even in the industrial age yet - wanted to trade me their cows for my uranium.

I was offering a trade to the AI and clicked for the AI to balance the trade......and it added items to its side. The AI made the trade better for me. Of course I accepted the new terms, but I thought it was odd that the AI would help me out.
.......shhhhhh......I'm lurking.......proud to have been stuck at settler for six years.......

Granted, but it just feels off and makes you go "WTF?"

It looks like a photo compared to the other civics which look more like cartoon illustrations.

So the combination of a photo-esque picture of a (seemingly, until you think about it) random baby really threw me off.

I think the difference is that too many Americans still deny our own country's history of imperialism, while most Europeans seem to have acknowledged their history of imperialism.

The Aristotle quotes for Replaceable Parts is "The whole is MORE than the sum of it's parts" but for Composites it's "The whole is GREATER than the sum of it's parts". Even the speech is different.

It guess he could have said it two different ways?

Also the speech for Construction is

"And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, King of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and dispair!' Nothing beside remains."

but the speech doesn't say the "Nothing beside remains" bit.

Another tv movie... Don't blame Firaxis, blame Mass Media!
... And for the longest time, Angelina Jolie was attached to an up-and-coming Catherine the Great movie (with a really bad script premise, mind you).

ALL of the female rulers in Civ4 have been sexed up, Victoria being the only exception -- probably beacuse she was actually photographed. Liz and Isabella both come off much better than several portraits indicate -- just like Catherine II.

It's very clear that they wanted Catherine to be the "sex" ruler in Civ4 (the winks, the poses, and that horrid civilopedia entry). I don't know how respectful it is, but it sure is fun.
