And yes, America has helped many countries in her history, however again the sad fact can be held that in many of those instances of help America helped because there was something in it for her.
Well wait a minute now. The fact that other gains were possible does not negate the morality of the action. I certainly agree with you on Rwanda, that was a prior administration for which I had little respect, one I might add that got elected by saying "America's been paying too much attention to outside countries." But even in their defense, for anyone in politics there are people who are well paid to come up with ulterior motive explanations for everything you do, and many more who do it for free. Had Clinton done the right thing and sent troops to Rwanda, someone would have come up with an explanation of why it was purely selfish.

It's happening right now. There are some who absolutely believe removing Saddam Hussein was the right altruistic move for the benefit of Iraqi people. Some supported it for selfish reason, and others for hateful ones. But there were also people who opposed it with those exact three mindsets. And to pick any one person and decide what their motives are requires a level of mindreading I don't possess. So the fact that other explanations exist doesn't mean much, and I'm not pessimistic enough to assume that the worst reason is actually the accurate one.

OK, on topic: Something that's really surprised me is the AI's inability to realize winning/losing strategies (on Noble). 2 games ago one opponent was waay ahead of me technologically and militarily. He was 2 pieces away from winning the space race and I'd barely gotten machinegunners. But I declared war to slow him down, and 55 turns later won a time victory because he was too busy attacking me to build the last 2 pieces. Even funnier, last game I decided to go to a cultural victory, everyone was perfectly peaceful as I dinged 1 legendary city, then 2. I finally hit 3 and won, and when I hit the "one more turn" button, then I got attacked. That was definitely a WTF moment.

I started a game, as Germany, and for starting units, I had a settler, a scout, and a Loin. The Lion made a good scout, until it was taken out by a bear.

You can get animals as units?

        WTF?

When did that happen? How do you get them? A specific civ or what?

If you build a camp on beavers for fur - it looks like a little family of beavers is going camping for the weekend.

A translation for those of you unused to l33t sp33ch:

My goodness, fellows! You should all try out the tutorial, for I am chuckling aloud uncontrollably! Sid Meier appears on the left side of the screen, and if you allow some time to pass without interacting with the game, presently Mr. Meier's head will shrink quite a bit. I found it to be quite amusing! However, you gentlemen should really try this yourselves, for my attempt to enlighten you cannot possibly capture the absolute humor that is a shrunken head.

                            • Macemen require machinery.

How much machinery could a mace possibly require? It's a freaking IRON BALL chained to the end of a WOODEN STICK.

Same with knights requiring guilds, if there were two things in the middle ages that had less to do with each other coming about I don't know what they were.

Call me kooky but, He may be refering to LENIN. Lenin is "intured" in a plexiglass coffin on display at Lenin's tomb. You can go see the mummified remains of Lenin as they lay there in front of you...
