The list of published books grows. If you're curious to see what sort of stories I weave out, head to Amazon.com and do an author search for "Christopher Hartpence." Help support Candle'Bre, a game created by gamers FOR gamers. All proceeds from my published works go directly to the project.
My latest game I used a quetchua rush on Immortal difficulty to take out the greeks in 2500 BC, and then capture two english cities, before people got units better than archers online. Got me in 1st place in the score with this start, on immortal!
I later took a couple barb cities.
6 quechuas are cheaper than a settler, and they get you an already built up city, some gold, and hurt your opponents
I got Astronomy (!!!) from a goodie hut once (Prince Difficulty). I was suprised and slightly offended because I was delaying researching it because I was enjoying the Collosus and was doing fine with galleys.
I've noticed that sometimes a civ will flat-out hate you for having a different religion and sometimes it's a much more mild effect. I've seen -4, I've seen -1. Anybody know the mechanics on that?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Yes, it's leader dependent and the numbers are in the XML. Many of the data nodes have descriptions with MEMORY tags, which appear to be how long a leader will hold a grudge.

If (and this is a big "IF") I can pull myself away from playing CIV for a few minutes, planning on putting together a simple C# program that will extract much of the XMl data and display it in a table-like format.

I was thinking a very similar thing, using a programming tool I work with. It'll take me more than a few minutes though, I haven't set up an XML import with it before ...
Since when did I become a Leader? What nation am I leading? Is my trait combination any good?
Unique Unit: Crazed Middle School Student? Automatic pillage on movement?
Your UU sucks and your only viable strategy is a late game sledgehammer, other than that your Civ is fine

Get agriculture, roads and a religion, then head for a direct beeline to alphabet then iron working. Once you iron working bulid swordsman/preotrians/immortals and attack your closest enemy (depending on political relations) by time you defeat your enemy, you cities will have doubled due to the captured ones. Then settle down to a defensive stance and go on the technology and culture path, then gear up for another assault on another neighbour around about the time you get gunpowder. To use this strategy, you should be the English, French, Romans or Persians. It is not worth being the Germans, because by time you get the Panzer, the other civilisations will be too big to destroy.
PS. No not trust the Incans, Aztecs or Mongolians, they are back stabing evil barstards.
I would be expansive, try to settle as much of the continent as possible, to increase the science levels to be able to get a navy that will transport me to another civilisation continent, however gold production would be limited due to the lack of trade with opponents. I would concentrate on having a strong Navy to protect my shores, then find a weak opponent and attempt to destroy them, if their technology is better than mine, then I would try to ally with them and trade technologies then to fight a bigger civilisation and try to domintate that way. However, I believe that it would end being a stalemate because of the technolgy difference. But with decent ships I would try to get early contact with closer neighbours.
At the end of the day, it would be difficult to win by conquest if my civ was the only civ on the continent, it would be like Australia trying to invade the United States. Fortunately, I have never played a game where I am the only Civ on a continent.
