  • This is just awesome . Don't you even consider the possibility that we don't cricize things that we honestly don't think should be criticized?

Other than that, many beta testers here, including myself, Markos and Locutus have made some negative and critical comments about CivIV, it's just that they are far less than the positive comments.

      *cough*

Uh, VetLegion said nothing about his own approval/disapproval for the game. He observed administrative dismissal of complaints within the fan community, and then correllated those authority figures to the beta testers for the game, and then came up with a (very sound, from my experience) hypothesis. It has NOTHING to do with "I think Civ4 is a bad game!"

You're trolling if you're not even going to address his argument. Why is it that anyone who dissents about the way Civ4 and the reaction to the (glaring) problems amongst the fan community is "jealous," "urealistic," "unsatisfiable," "ignorant," or any other pejorative?

      Sheesh.

Heh, this is exactly what I was talking about (that Firaxis made a smart move). A negative post and WHAM two beta testers rush to respond in detail.

What is exactly what you are talking about?

And finally we arrive at that. Do you see now how ridiculous you have been in this thread? That question is the very first thing you should have asked, since I have said many things, and you couldn't possibly have known what I was thinking about.

But instead you asked me stuff like "what have I said wrong about Civ IV" and then accused me of ducking the questions. You've effectively PWNED yourself with stuff like that.

BTW, have you realized yet that the idea that anyone would want me to represent them for PR purposes is insane?

You have potential, but the path to Kung Fu master is long and hard

For now I would classify you as Nitpick. And in that light I would like to emphasize that by that I am not attempting an ad hominem, I mean it in a humorous way. You're more than wellcome to find me on that page

        • Take it from me on this one: While Firaxis was probably rushed to get this thing finished, my Spider Sense tells me they are quite serious about tightening things up. Civ 3 really taught them a lesson (many lessons, actually) about development and support.

However, it's also too early to say, really. The contents of the next two patches and how closely they reflect user input will say a lot and will also forecast what to expect with an X-pack.

My advice to the worried: Give Firaxis a chance with the first patch. Well, the second one is probably the better test. Then grumble if needed.

That would be counter-trolling, if anything.

Well, at least we now have another example of a loaded question to go with the other one you posted. If I say "yes" or "no" it would imply that I admit there is weight to the question's presumption that I have been ridiculous in this thread. As for my answer, I am not concerned with how I look in this thread in the least.

Now that you have an example of the concept, perhaps you could attempt to give a similar analysis of my questions in this light to back up your prior insinuation that they were loaded questions?

That question is the very first thing you should have asked, since I have said many things, and you couldn't possibly have known what I was thinking about.
That was a rhetorical question to lead into the quotes illustrating what you had already claimed was the elaboration upon your statement. While you may think it's a required question, I had already read this thread of yours and the implication was quite clear to me. If there was any doubt, you responded by affirming it.

                    Just in case you've forgotten:

But instead you asked me stuff like "what have I said wrong about Civ IV" and then accused me of ducking the questions.
They are applicable questions. If you disagree, explain why they are not applicable. Simply dismissing them without explaination is what I call "ducking". And you have yet to answer the questions, or even make an attempt to show how they are loaded, so my accusation that you are ducking them still stands.

You've effectively PWNED yourself with stuff like that.
My favorite part of just about any discussion is when that word makes it's way into someone's post. Style-wise you were rather defunct in your attempt though. Very disappointing that.

You have potential, but the path to Kung Fu master is long and hard
Just another weasle attempt to get out of the discussion or change the subject. I've been to the OT, I have email too... are you going to start posting jokes from chain letters soon?

For now I would classify you as Nitpick. And in that light I would like to emphasize that by that I am not attempting an ad hominem, I mean it in a humorous way.
I really don't care how you would classify me. The only interesting thing here is that it follows suit with everything else you have posted, a statement offered with no form of evidence to back it up.

You're more than wellcome to find me on that page
Why would I bother trying to find a humorous analogy to your posting style when I already have your actual posts to laugh at?

Remind me again, how many of the hundreds of threads criticising Civ4, Sid, Soren, Firaxis, 2K Games or Apolyton did we close, how many critics did we ban?

So there's a lot of that going on. But it's to be expected. I would be VERY surprised to see any moderator or admin at C3C or Apolyton criticize CivIV or it's launch.

Only the ones that offer something that I feel the need to play. And buying a game (for me) is a calculated risk. I don't care how many times I read "this game is amazing" or "this game sucks" My experiance could be (and usually is) totally different therefore there is little reason to place stock in any such claims.

Hopefully that loathsome piece of contemporary net-kiddy-vocab will never make it into the dictionary.

Aeson hasn't been defeated in argument here - Vet has. It seems he''ll never admit it as he continues to bob, weave, duck, evade and generally weasel around the specifics, but he has failed to provide any evidence to back up his conspiracy theory - an cynical and ungracious analysis that depicts beta-testers as corrupt and dishonest shills.

Those allegations should not go unchallenged.
