So should General Patton represent the US?

Come on... it's silly. Female are in the game where they were leaders. Egypt, England, Russia, Spain. Who are you really going to put for the US? No woman has been President! France has the same problem. Ditto for Germany (unless you think Merkel deserves the honor ), and on and on.

Fact of the matter is that most civilizations have been dominated by men. It isn't putting down women, it's the simple truth. We don't need a PC inclusion of women into the leadership roles.

Sensible female choices have been added in the game: Victoria and Elizabeth for the English, Catherine for Russia, Hashepsut for Egypt, Isabella for Spain.
    Hear hear!

Sniff, Sniff what's this I can smell? Is this the tang of affronted testosterone assailing my nostrils from the vast majority of responses? A recurring theme of which seems to be "girls don't play games". I can't say that I'm at all suprised.

I do not live in London, I live in South London. South London is different, a warm melting pot where everyone can become a bona fide South Londoner by virtue of two things. One: living in South London, and two: having no aspiration to live in the Cotswolds.

I'm pissed that England once again only has women leaders.

C'mon Ashbury. You know that as far as matters sexual the rest of the world view the English as a little odd.

I'm not saying the "leader" thing is a valid point - I'm not sure I agree it is - but when you expect there to be no female gamers, consider whether or not you are ensuring a self-fulfilling prophecy.
QFT. Luckily, I'm an odd girl and play 'em anyway ... probably -because- people go 'Eww, icky, girl cooties! Run away!'
But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Huh, most of the posts I've read have been "Well, since this is a pseudo-historical game, and there have historically been few females who have led nations, it makes sense that there are few female leaders in the game" type posts. Are we reading the same thread?
That it is wrong for a man to say he is certain of the objective truth of a proposition unless he can provide evidence which logically justifies that certainty. This is what agnosticism asserts and in my opinion, is all that is essential to agnosticism. ["Agnosticism and Christianity", 1889, Thomas Huxley]

Actually Gary I've just gone over the thread and I'm embarassed to say I'm quite wrong. Only one post actually says anything like that (not recurring at all). By Gum! We're very nearly growing up. I stand by my affronted testosterone crack though.

That's a decent representation of female leaders. Not asking for a representation of nonhistorical leaders, but I think it might be OK in a few instances to have some that haven't been presidents, Kings, etc. Sure, call it politically correct if you want. But also to accommodate our hopefully growing female Civ constituency.

I would have thought that Joan of Arc would be "grandfathered" into the game, and Cleoopatra too, but sometimes you need product differentiation.

So, who do we have for France now, Napoleon? I open the box tomorrow, Haven't peeked.

Babette leaders have been far and few between though.

Ehh... I've always frowned on that. Only have Civ leaders who were actually leaders of the nation/country, not some underling.

And, of course, Egypt doesn't need a woman leader for diversity, since it already has one.

And I'd MUCH rather prefer Napoleon and Louis XIV as France's leader over Joan.

I have to say i'm not suprised, either, at these people posting "zzz" posts and how stupid this post is. Bunch of guys with c**k in mouth disease. A person doesn't have to be president to be a great leader...prime minister...monarch...etc

More women should definately be represented. BUT I do conciede the target audience is mostly men...albeit men who could do with a month holiday at a feminist butch lesbian retreat.

To be the leader of a Civ? Your damn right they have to be!
