I've heard the Civ4 AI will not quietly leave the top dog (winning player) alone, as the disappointing mess in Civ3 often as any balance of power was nonexistant making the game quite boring once a human became dominant. Excellent! And any of the "that wouldn't happen in the real world" people I debated years ago can finally realize Civilization is a strategic game and can crawl back to their Sims game under some rock.

All the other improvements seem great too.

He recites a quote from history each time you discover a tech. Not my favorite feature, or even terribly important to me, but it's a nice touch for sure.

I voted for combat, but I'm also really looking forward to finally being able to play a small builder civ the way it was meant to be played. Of course, all of the features in your list are huge, in my opinion

But I voted again. "Other" this time since moddability was neglected.

If i made the poll, I would have left modability off of the poll too

Whats your favorite feature of the game as it is installed on your PC and you play it for the first time? I ask you that.

I wouldn't exactly call modability a "new" feature... yeah it's more modable but since civ 3 was pretty well modable it's not really new...

What's new is that the editor is now in-game!

Combat for me, because if it wouldn't have been for the horrible randomness of combat in civ3, I'd probably have liked the game a good bit more.

Stupid poll. Can't select more than one thing- not a true reflection of interests... so LEONARD NIMOY GOT MY VOTE!

Thank you Solver for for telling us that the diplomacy is something to look forward to in Civ4.
Playing the diplomat is what Civ is about.
The govener option looks good and previews have stated that it works well.

Well... Great people, and a close 2nd place to units promotion.
So far, i like everything... Including the last option, "other".

I chose diplomacy because I will mostly play epic games vs. AI (most humans can't tolerate my pace in terms of how slow techs should be researched) and besides the basics of AI like military management/build orders/etc... diplomacy is the most important thing.

I hate fiddling around in diplomacy screens struggling to find out what the AI would trade, so I really welcome how they describe diplomacy as having everything trade-able laid out on the table from the get-go. Also I like how some people explain that the AI will help you in times of war like send you gifts (nice touch) and FINALLY you get to see exactly why those mysterious Mongols hate you so much!! I just hope AI won't randomly declare war on you like other civs though

Though I voted for the end of ICS, I have to say that I am VERY excited about diplomacy this time out-and that is just based on what little I know. The fact that other civs aren't merely motivated by who is the strongest/weakest civ (as it was in civ2/civ3 respectively), but are motivated by agendas and ideologies! I am assuming, Solver, that with a boost to diplomacy, trade gets a huge shot in the arm too-or are you saving all that info for part 3., you big tease !

I voted for elimination of corruption. It is the main reason I stopped playing Civ 3 after a few weeks and eventually sold the box, manual, and CD.

                            It made the game un-fun.
