Aussie - common religion gives a relation boost. How big of a boost it is indeed depends on how long you share the religion, what's the other civ in question, and other factors as well.
On religion... yep, you can't totally control the religion spread. You can, though, prevent non-state religion spread. If you don't do that, however, you will most likely find that some of your cities will also have other religions than your state religion.

I have a question for MarkG, based on his German Screenshot (Berlin).
Why did you Irrigate / Farm the Floodplains and put Hamlets on the Plains? I may be missing something (probably tied into needed water to irrigate) but wouldn't it be better to have Cottages on Flood Plains and Irrigate / Farm Plains?
It might be personal preference, but I'd rather have 3/1/x cottage floodplains and 2/1/0 farmed plains, than 4/0/1 farmed flood plains and 1/2/x plains with cottages.
Hamlets on Grasslands I agree with.
And do cottages construct themselves, or do you need workers to place them? I've heard some contradictory information.
Is it just me, or are there different trees on the plains than on the grassland?

after a while in that game i left the workers automated....

you have the worker build a cottage, then it evolves by time on it's own
I like how you can draw on the map now... but how flexible is it?
- Most importantly, do the drawings last between turns?
- Can you have multiple drawing layers? It'd be nice to have a drawing that I share with my ally... and a drawing that I share with my other ally to plan destroying ally #1... and then a private drawing that notes my plans for crushing all of them...

Given that you need a worker to take full advantage of your starting squares (bonus or othrwise), and given that it is pointless to build a worker until you research the required techs, how painful is it to wait to build a worker instead of another warrior or other improvement / unit.
Staring at those cows, thinking "if only I had a pasture..." must be painful.
How soon before you break down and build one, given the lost city growth from building one?

probably asap since turn advantage is very good thing to have with econ

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''
Yeah, but Workers cost 40 or 60 food/hammers, and the average size 1 city will only have +3 food +2 hammers, so you will be stuck at size 1 for 8-12 turns. Further, once it is produced, you may not be able to do much of anything with it, as you need to research several techs. And you will have no military units to explore or defend with.
Is that really better than waiting till size 2 or 3, when you can get better city growth and a few units up and about, and build the worker faster?
