  • So, you share tiles with your friend. Ie. you're even in his city.

What happens if you go to war with him?
Will your unites be removed from his cities? Or will one huge fight start out of the sudden....!?

    • I am absolutely for this units sharing a tile thing. It was always a problem in civ3 to support a friendly civ in a war, especially when you wanted to help them hold a line or a point of strategic interest because often you could not move your stronger defensive troops to these tiles because they were already occupied by friendly but week troops... or you were blocking each others access to roads...

      • I think that sharing tiles in peace times is good.
The interesting thing is what happenes when you declare war to a civ that has units sharing tiles with your units.
And also is there any form of ZOC in Civ4.

        • I am with you on this one, Clausewitz. I really want to see units capable of causing collateral damage to units be equally able to cause collateral damage to underlying terrain. War impacts on terrain, and needs to be implemented in the game. Hopefully in a future mod/expansion pack.

            • Hey Clausewitz, what mods are you using in that screenshot? I like the multiple units.

Bah!
I'm with Sir Ralph, "over my dead body" and "first come first serve".

OTOH, all it changes is that instead of him declaring war to get by, I declare war to stop him.

                • Gee, some of you will find that I am not covering absolutely everythinh you could want in my preview .

Ata is right. Don't like it, declare war and you have your "over my dead body". Better yet, build a city, claim the area with culture, and have them declare war and struggle against your city defenses.

                        • Well, in a limited sense I can live with it, see my argument on the previous page, where I said, that it has its advantages by helping an ally to defend his cities.

I'm also aware, that a declaration of war can change the rules to the old and IMO better rules. Makes the game much more geared towards war, though.

It's pretty much a matter of preference, and I would never attack anyone for expressing, that he likes it. If however, somebody decides to troll me by basically calling me an exploiter over my dislike for this feature, I will respond appropriately.

This concerns cities with their houses and improvements as well as tile improvements.

Even those little craters and city ruins which were added to civ3 in conquest (if I remember right) imo were quite amazing though so simple.

                            Any info about that?

thinking that much more areas will be open to modding with
                            this incarnation of CIV...

I am thinking the CIV4 mod community will be huge and long-lasting.

                            • It has it's upsides. It has it's downsides.

If it's balanced, just find another way to exploit it.
