in that regards, then Rise of Nations is a TBS. We all know this isn't true.

I like Civ mainly because of the replayability and the possibility to shape the game into new challenges by changing the rules.
Fed up with pollution? now thats extra simple gold plus: fire up the editor, set temples to remove population pollution, and remove the pollution values from all buildings. Voilà, adios pollution. And you can even use the Mass Transit building to do something useful like increasing trade in the target city...
Bein able to do stuff like that, and more... there is no other game where you can do so much and have something new each time.
I love playing Civ because I was a big alpha centauri fan, and once I really tried Civ3 I was hooked. it's more elaborate in some ways (like combat), and yet simplified in others (namely the managment of citizens). Plain and simple It makes me think, and that helps me remember that I'm a geek and a gamer, which are my two best qualities
