No. Buddha as depicted in India isn't fat (he was an ascetic, after all). Fat Buddha's are East Asian inventions.

Can someone produce a COMPLETED image of Three Gorges? (actual photos only please)

By the way, is it done? I have not kept up with it because I never bothered.

That's the point. It's not slated to be completed by 2009 or 2010. There are some opinions that even that deadline will slide.

China is actually building something else which is probably just as ambitious as the 3 gorges.

Recently I read that China has employed one of the words most famous architects; The Architect is to design and build 7 eco-cities in China.

              The 7 cities will be 100% enivroment-friendly.

What I remember reading were things like, the rooves of the buildings will be filled with dirt and gardens.

25% of the energy will be supplied by natural gas.

and the ideal place for a University is at the centre of the city.

Oh and I think the city will have no roads for cars, I think they said something about a different means of transportation.

Why is China doing this? Well A LOT of chinese are travelling to the big cities everyday and the cities can't cater for all of these people. Many people are apparently living in the carparks now.

                The eco-chic strikes again
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

                  How about the Aswan Dam?

                  (or the Giva Dam )
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
                  2004 Presidential Candidate
2008 Presidential Candidate (for what its worth)

                        down with this idea.

Yes I live 30 miles away from the Hoover Dam, so I might be biased.

It's really the only great thing my region can say for itself. Yeah sure we have all the casinos and hotels and world class entertainment. But I don't care for any of that stuff.

And just for everyone elses information, the Hoover Dam is not listed as one of the 7 modern wonders. While it was a first and it is massive, it wasn't exactly the hardest thing to do, thanks to its chosen location.

Itaipu Dam, Channel Tunnel and the Panama Canal are are also on the list.
you try working in 130 degree (fahrenheit) heat.

It also bridges Nevada and Arizona and provides transportation from Las Vegas to Phoenix.

One more thing to add to this thread. People felt the need to add a modern asian wonder, but don't we need a modern american wonder too?

It's the only american wonder in the game of civ3 (except maybe the internet- but that's not strictly U.S.)

actually I might be mistaken. I just can't think of any others at the moment. Universal suffrage. I believe women's suffrage began in England a little before it began in the Northeast U.S.

Sure you can argue that americans are white and essentually european. But that's just being PC and classifying people as white and non white. Being PC isn't very PC in my opinion. People shouldn't be viewd as white and non white.

                                Apollo Program?
Statue of Liberty (I know its industrial, but at least its more modern than any of the other Civ's wonders)
                                Manhatten Project

Dude, the US own all the modern wonders in the game.

And Dis, Indians work in worse heat every day and are forced to work just as hard as those who worked on Hoover. and I emphasize the word "forced".

Now I can agree with this idea, there does need to be more modern wonders outside of the U.S.

Because it does feel as if I am "becoming an American dream nation" once I reach the modern era.
