In fact, Civ games are typically released for Macs. And that happens much later than the Windows release. Not getting any new games quickly is what you subscribe to when buying a mac .

Not sure if an Intel Mac will do Windows any better.

CivIV`s minimum and recommended system requirements are also revealed officially for the first time. The current min[imum] spec[ification] is a 1 GHz Pentium [III] with 256 MB RAM and a video card that supports hardware T[ransform and] L[ighting (T&L)]. We haven’t really worked out a recommended spec[ification] yet, but I imagine having 512MB of RAM, a P[entium IV], and a recent graphics card... would probably do the trick.
It's not different from the requirements for Pirates, so I guess it is fine - at least for me, considering that Pirates runs well on my system.
hum, my laptop has integrated Radeon IGP 320M, 64 MB, total 512. It has no T&L. Processor is 2800 XP-M. What gives, the game does not play at all or it seesaws my nerves?

For instance, Google up your graphics card and see its specifications. As the news item on our Civ4 section says:
To determine whether or not one`s video card is T&L enabled, one must first know their card adapter and chip name and then comptently research its capabilities online using a search engine such as Google. To make this initial determination:
1) Right-click on a blank part of the desktop and click `Properties`.
2) From the `Settings` tab of this window, left-click on the `Advanced` button.
3) Click on the `Adapter` tab.
4) Note the name of the adapter type and chip name for researching.
