Well, frankly, I'm still waiting to see how Civ IV deals with the major changes in government, armies and economy in the modern age.
Frankly, I think many games fall on this, and I think it is still not completed in Civ IV and that is the reason we don't see screenshots with tanks, airplanes, railroads and so on.
We have no idea about any unit or technology beyond the first millenia.

Any idea how that will work?
This is pure speculation, but I think I have an idea.
We know that some units will have bonuses against other unit types. Spearman have bonuses against cavalry, dragoons have bonuses against artillery, and some unit has bonuses against "gunpowder units".
This means that the game has many different unit-categories. There could be a "pre-gunpowder" cateogory, to which the tank would be wholly immune.

Aye, there is binary code which is the language of the microprocessor and does not need an interpreter. Is the most common way of releasing programs. The famous .exe in windows. In DOS was also used .com, dont know the difference though.
Right. We know the number of units ingame I suppose from that unit screenshot, and we know already a number of units from the early ages and can make educated guesses from the unit civipedia screenshot for later ages.
How about creating a list somewhere from with all this, and fill it up with likely units from modern times to figger out what spots are still available for unique units or such?

I'm actually done for the most part. Need do some minor rewriting and reordering on the modding and development sections, but that's probably only about an hour's worth of work.
The only real task that remains is to take all my research and put into HTML tables a new 'Civilopedia' section which will contain lists of all known units, buildings, etc.
I have about 30ish terrain types and tile imps, all 31 resources (although for 3 I don't know what they're supposed to be), 35ish units, 60ish buildings/wonders, all 41 promotions (but that's basically nothing that you aren't already keeping track off -- in fact it's probably less as I only keep track of facts, not speculation) and a lot of techs. Compiling the tables with screenshots and everything will probably take indeed about one more day
But I'll probably post the non-Civilopedia part later tonight...

Just kiddin', good work, Locutus is doing. And he probably got the unit thing down.
/me thinks Locutus is solliciting for a new title.
