A ship at sea is its own world. To be the captain of a ship is to be the unquestioned ruler of that world and requires all of the leadership skills of a prince or minister.

    • Sorry Slade, but it IS in fact a separate title. It is NOT a Civ4 x-pack. This will be clear once you play it.

        • Slade: Dale is the last person who would be arguing with you if he weren't pretty darn sure he was right on this one. Trust me.

          • By definition, it can't be expanion pack, since it does not expand basic game.

            No Civilization epic gameplay included.

            • Define it whatever you like, and ill trust years of watching companies do this. Milk job.

              • Slade: I think Dale has personal knowledge of this, so be careful so you don't have to eat your words in a few months.

Someone's blood will run if they ever do that thing again. This time Colonization won't be limited to a total of 48 european colonies like the first version.

I would be very happy with a col 1,5.
Looking at the screenshots I fear it will just be that, a great mod for Civ4. And I don't judge by the engine, but by the city management. The great fun in Colonization (I'm playing it right now, after having done civ4 last week) is to manage your colonists, to train them, to produce goods and sell them.

I expect this Civ4 mod to use Civ4's principles, that means build your colonists like units in civ4 (see screenshot). I expect trade to function like in civ4.

I'm sure this will be a great game, just like civ4 is, but for colonization we will probably still have to play colonization.

                    • I guess you haven't read any of previews about Civ4:Col then?

At first glance you would thing they are reviewing old Col from 1994.

                      • The mechanics in this game are much, much more like Colonization than Civ 4.

Good, then get the Portuguese as a starting Civ and all is well!

                            • This forum will soon surpass Civilization: Revolution's own even a whole month before its release which is a good sign. The PC market is living and interest in this title is high.

If Civ Col is a succes then maybe we can hope for Civ4: Final Frontier or Civ4: Rise of Rome or Civ4: Endwar.

The more spin-offs civ4 has the better civ5 will be. One of the main reasons civ4 was a good game was because the designers learned from SMAC.
