I do not think it means what you think it means...

Is there something in post #32 besides "slightly relevant"?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Nope. Can you upload it? A lot of sites block image stealing nowadays.

Meanwhile, what do you dislike about the flat tax, especially in the context of a basic income?

The strong should bear more of the burden than the weak. They also benefit more from public policy in the form of their success.

Plus, I'm a (true) capitalist (Adam Smith liked progressive taxation).

Who do you believe controls public policy at this point? The strong, or the weak?

Neither. No single group controls public policy.

My goal would be a flat tax, a flat Basic Income uneffected by that tax, and a gutting of the tax and welfare systems that came before.
The problem with a 'basic income' is that it destroys those already on a fixed income, and destroys the working folks.

Also, had a wonderful meal at Taco Cabana last night in honor of my fellow Apolyton Evil Conservatives.

I'm tempted to ask how a basic income would 'destroy' those on fixed incomes and working folk, but I'm afraid the answer will make me want to put my brain in a blender.
