So, what are we doing about Japan? Do we have any subs left or are we just putting it to AI?
I guess AI is best.
On that note, what about Spain? I've been subbing Spain long enough to invade and nearly annihilate another AI and nearly double my territory. How long am I going to be a "temporary" sub here? We need some rules in place to handle this, since we're never going to find a permanent sub from outside the game, I think, especially given the overall quality of Spain (not so great, despite my efforts).
I found someone who was interested in taking over for Spain (or Japan I suppose) but is on his honeymoon at the moment. But yea, we might have to set someone to AI...

Well, we Asians would like to know soon what's to happen with Japan. One of the two needs to go AI it seems. I'm playing Spain way too long to keep on without it being my "second civ".
Ah crap, I just noticed that France has missed a ton of turns too... *sigh*

Inactive for 20 days and 11 missed turns... :/
We probably need to decide which of the two (Spain and France) will be cut up and which will go to the sub then.
So, we have active/inactive:
China
Even with 1 sub possibly coming, 2 civs need to go. I assume France is gone, being AWOL for so long. You can try to contact that player, but the worst is probably the case.
I think it's easiest to carve up France and let the sub take over Spain then, but I'm clearly biased on this as then the Asians get to carve up Japan (including me, though I won't gain much from it likely).
We can also just set Spain to AI, let continental France get carved up, the remnants in Africa AI'd, and let the sub take over Japan.
I think France is a bit better than Spain overall especially on tech rate, but Spain is a lot harder to carve up than France is, and with those French territories Spain will be in a better position than Japan or France now anyway. It might make sense to let Spain take the SE French city on the border (on the Med coast, I forget the name) also since it will take it with culture if it goes to another civ anyway.
So:
1. carve up France and Japan, sub takes Spain
2. carve up France, Spain goes AI, sub takes Japan
3. carve them all up if the sub is a no-show in 1mo
My choice:
Carve up France now between Spain, England, and HRE; carve up Japan between Korea, Viet, and China. Give India rights to settle somewhere else to keep it balanced for him also, and Rome can take Russia out.
If the sub is a no-show, carve up Spain in 1mo between HRE and England.
Sounds like a plan. I PMed LzPrst, but haven't heard back yet. Hercules said he interested in subbing, so I figure he should take Spain, and sub for Japan till Arnelos gets back from his honeymoon. Can you get him the password?

Actually Arnelos might be back now, so Herc can just stick to Spain and let Arnie take Japan (if he is still interested).

Probably should let the permanent sub look at the 3 nations and take his pick first, then if Herc is only temp subbing, let him take second pick, then carve or somehow handle the third nation. I might think, having subbed Spain, that it's all nice, but I'm aware France is a bit nicer still, and carving up Spain could work just as well as carving up France - HRE and France can take up its European and North African parts, with England taking the old Mali lands (they're quite nice).
I don't think Herc wanted to just temp sub. If we have Dick, Herc & Arnelos we can cover Spain, Japan & France. You are probably right that I should just let them pick who they want to be.

I strongly oppose any plan to carve up inactive civs if that means just give their cities to neighbouring civs. Inactive civs that are not going to have other players taking them over should be turned to AI and their neighbours should conquer the cities they want. My understanding is that is not going to be necessary at this point since we seem to have 3 replacements but I want to register my protest now in case a similar decision is required in the future.
That's what I meant: it would be conquest, but we'd agree beforehand who would take what to keep things fair.
I know the Asians have already started such discussions over Japan, but now that it may be subbed for I suppose we should stop... or should we *evilgrin* That said, I do have some issues to work out pronto with whoever subs Japan...
