EDIT - This is a RoN-related post.
The new historical campaigns are great, but I just want to caveat my previews (Napoleon and Cold War) - they are based on the Marketing Beta of a couple months ago and probably represent an even earlier stage in the expansion's development. Big Huge Games' Douglas Kaufman hinted at surprises in his designer diary at 1up.

I'm intrigued by the Chinese campaign in the game. It looks like it will be during the Cold War, which could be very interesting!
China was at various times, enemies of the USA, the USSR, and a good percentage of its neighboring countries during that time. I look forward to it.
(Although I still hope they'll put a JieFangJun unit in the game )"lol internet" ~ AAHZ

The campaigns are basically different CTW setups.
MP is just a newer version of AoK or EE. The single player (CTW) stuff is where this games rakes in kudos.I never know their names, But i smile just the same

ron mp is not like aok or ee, you may draw that its like ee for one reason and thats it spans all ages but even that comparsion is superficial. And comparing it to aok is just stupid they have nothing in commonKids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try. -Homer

For various reasons I still havent purchased RoN (just played the demo a bit), now I'm waiting for a RoN - TaP gold version.
I must have scots bloodWe need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Nothing in common? For god's sake they're both RTS!?! They both have civilizations, UUs, resource collection (many of the same resources too), the categories for combat units are extremely similar, etc.
AoK, EE, and RoN are very similar games. I know they have differences and can play differently but for the most part if you've played one you can play the others (not that you'd do well but you'd understand the concepts).I never know their names, But i smile just the same

Is there any facility for writing your own CTW campaigns? I'm imaging somebody writing up the various points of engagement for the US forces in AFghanistan, pursuing the hit+fade terrorist forces from one location to the next. You would have a map of Afghanistan, split into provinces, and as you advanced, you'd have battlefields to fight on, some of which (Tora Bora, Kandahar) would be very tricky to strat for.
Essentially, like the single player campaigns in Command and Conquer, except that there's more of a supply and science feel."lol internet" ~ AAHZ

they are both rts, and they have the same basic elements every rts game has true. You play a fps and u know the basics for any other fps but do they play the same no. But they dont play the same in mp i have played aok and ron and there nothing similar about the two expect the basics.Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably.
