Zangief is scary good in this one. He's pretty damn near broken.

My brother played Gief vs. Guile. Guile did a standing hk (where he jumps up and kicks but it's still technically a ground move) and hit Gief, who then did a spd.

From one whole kick's distance, my brother's Gief piled the Guile. For 33% damage. Insane.

The EX moves are cool though. I'm sad that Vega is so weak though.

Gief is decent yeah but he is counterable. My guess is that this issue is mostly that Guile has very few easy tricks in this game.

I'm still finding the game awesome but it's really ruined by the problems I'm having. It says disk read error with the usual suggestions to clean the cd etc but after lots of playing around I'm convinced that it is not the disk itself but a hard drive issue.

If I play without the hard drive at all I've never once got it to give the error. And the error isn't like usual disk read errors in that once it happens I have to power cycle to avoid the error on startup of the game, or sometimes that doesn't even work and I have to take the hard drive out, start the game without it, then replace it. This nearly always works.

There are (very few admittedly) reports of people with older xboxes like mine having the same problem, and a more common potentially related issue with save files becoming corrupt. So maybe they'll release a fix. I figure it's not worth sending the disk back because I just don't think it's that.

Whatever it is it's highly irritating.

Played the game lastnight, (btw, I sold my XBox, using gf's brothers one now), it really brings me back to the good old days but doesn't make it boring.

Challenging at first, but the changes grew on me quick, my fav character has always been Guile, but I will shift to Fei Long as soon as he is available. Guile has always been difficult to play, but once you have mastered him, he can be quite deadly. Unfortunately, I could not kill the mexican wrestler dude with Guile, I switched to Vega, which made it 10x easier.

Will have to practice Guile a bit more.

I've seen that list and it looks about right so far - even with small shake-ups to the console meta around e.g. Rose as anti-shoto.

Viper is also hard to pin down - sometimes I think she deserves S+ (usually when a Viper whups me) but I waver.

Guile and Vega definitely deserve bottom place.

Yeah, Vega (claw) was a sad nerf. Now he's fighting tooth and claw (haha! Sorry) to chain several moves with just a few frames' advantages... and then the extra hits don't do nearly enough damage to make them worthwhile.

I'm excited to see how Chun Li makes out. She's always been my favorite character. Next would be Bison (dictator), Vega (claw), and Sagat.

though once i get the console version ill go back to my main, Cammy. I'll still keep el fuerte as my low tier represent char now that playing cammy feels like running my opponent over with a bull dozer.

Japanese Arcade sucks then.

arcade came out about year earlier than console. console is kinda more like sf4: expansion.
