Well played MJW. Odd though that having more cities made me more vulnerable to mass assault.
Care to explain the first paragraph of this quote Theben?

Oh, it was not a good play. The strongest move would have been to build 7 wonders and win. Now, Hercules will play Kingmaker or will do something strange by Spying on Spaced Cowboy with me -- then dogpilling on me with Spaced Cowboy.

    • Computer games can have spies stopped by percentages that the player may not be aware of and/or can't affect. Here if a spy isn't stopped by a counter spy, it will always succeed.

The Trojan Horse can be stopped- temporarily- by stockpiling your own spies and/or calling in allies. Long enough to launch a counter-offensive of some sort.

I would suggest removing the 1 DEF spy stops 2 spies, and replace it with one of 2 things:

*- One spy stops 1 spy. A civ at war also gets a free DEF espionage action to defend any phase, which cannot be stockpiled.
      or
*- One spy stops 1 spy. In addition, the spying player picks a # 1 thru 10 per spy sent. The defender picks the same, 1-10. If the numbers match, the spy is intercepted. A civ at war may pick an additional number.

If anyone wants to play the alterate Society game I'll incorporate 1 of those ideas. The 2nd, obviously, is a bit more complex.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      • Ummm... The rules say that you cannot traget the spying pharse. This means Horse cannot be defended against.

        • Hmmm, I always assumed it just meant negating a new spy and it's actions. That does make the Horse extremely powerful.

Nevertheless the 2 proposals I made would not be subject to the Horse. Perhaps the Horse needs an expiration.

          • Well, how about this... After espionage is discovered, the trojan horse grants 2 additional spies that turn and then expires and grants no further bonuses?

It would give people a reason not to want the horse to be obsolete... even as they are being foiled by its spies.

            • Ummm... The results have 2 errors.

              1. Spaced Cowboy built a city and put a wonder on it the same turn. This is illegal.

              2. I counted 13 cities on the map. But the graph and write-up says 11.

              • I had 6 cities before; I only have six wonders, maybe he put it in the wrong city.

                  That's what he did!

But how many cities do you have now?

                  • I figure either Spaced wins this turn with culture or MJW gets a domination win.

Unless someone takes one of Spaced's wonder this turn, or sabotages his wonder production, I don't see how he can be stopped.

The chart says spaced has 11.

                            • I think I should have 10 cities, IIRC.

I'll have orders in 24 hours, I'm quite busy at the moment and don't have the time, sorry.

                              • Hmm... I'm confused about what happened with Spaced Cities- I think he has either 11 as I wrote on the chart or 13... If you don't want to claim the 13, feel free to act as though you have 11 for now.

                                Good luck.
