That's outstanding that this is your impression, but the fact that it was developed simultaneously for the 360 and PC kinds of makes your opinion kind of ****ing pointless.

And yeah, why wouldn't someone assume you meant it was C&C when you mentioned one of "C&C" and "DOOM" are aimed at the PC market, considering that C&C was released last week for the 360 and DOOM is a classic PC game from MANY years ago before consoles?

I haven't played C&C on the consoles, but I've heard bad things. I know that I didn't like that Battle for Middle Earth game. I'd say it's a PC game that's trying to get a few sales on the consoles, because piracy makes PC exclusives a poor RoI.

RTS is one genre where I really haven't seen a good console game come out. There have been some decent games, like Pikmin, but that was more of a puzzle RTS than C&C or Starcraft.

Not true. I was overall slightly dissapointed by the xbox and GC, neither having many really great titles that were designed to be very replayable(The GC did better here with it's Harvest Moon + Animal Crossing games....but not really my thing).
There were a few games out of the hundreds I owned that I've kept. A platform is only as good as the games on it.

This 'experiment' showed me what console gaming was about, and having played the 360 and a few games on that(nothing recently mind you) I could see the 'quick' turnover(less bang for your buck) was part of the marketing model to increase revenue(which to me was at the expense of gameplay longevity), especially if you are not a fan of MP deathmatch gaming.
No way in hell do i want to connect any console online, that can destroy any game immersion for me outright! It is just too depressing imho!!!

That's all, and not much has changed in current console gaming to change that feeling. There are a few exceptions to the rule, but those are still poor in comparison to many of the games(old PC ones mostly) i choose to play instead of getting on this generations bandwagon. Graphics alone are not enough imho.

The PS2 has been a nice surprise, but that is entirely down to the very broad range of quality games it has, especially compared to the other console platforms.
So yes in that sense I feel that the PS2 is probably still the best console to own, and if Sony keep supporting it even more so

It's amusing to me that you have no idea what constitutes game longevity. Were you the assclown that made a comment about people playing Halo anymore?

Take a look at the Xbox Live Charts, and how many games are being played regularly that are "old" games by many people...

The console has longevity -- CERTAINLY more than the PS2 -- due to the online play.

The people on Xbox Live is far more intelligent than you are, in general. I'm quite serious, too. Most people on Xbox Live are smart enough to see the utility in both PC and modern console gaming, while you have yet to make this discovery. You're about 5 years behind the curve here, and you think it makes you superior because of it (it doesn't).

Who thinks they are superior asher? I'm just a very happy gamer without all the stuff you think i need to enjoy gaming.

I tried console MP, didn't like it and contrary to what MS/Nintendo/Sony(eventually!) are trying to make us believe, most games are played singleplayer.

MP can be very cool for sure, but it ALL depends on who you are playing with(just like playing with your mates at school/college). Most of MY online mp gaming experiences didn't help my immersion into the game world and so didn't aid my enjoyment of the game. I certainly wouldn't pay to have that experience.

Lan/hotseat parties with close mates on the other hand I find great fun(maybe the face-to-face aspect plays an important role?).

Good to see a 360 title in the mix, this year seemed to good for MS in the east(compared to previous years). I guess some poor PS3 games plus it's high price has started to filter out into the japanese game playing public?
