Yes. They scrapped what was to be released last year and just did very minor tweaks, and still called it 3.0.
Typical of committee warfare, the traditional CAD members of OpenGL fought with the gaming members of OpenGL, and the CAD members won.
Direct3D is increasingly the obvious choice for game development."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Though according to PS3 devs on Beyond3D, the OpenGL-like version on the PS3 is slow as hell and inconsistent, so they use custom PS3 libraries and SDKs written by Sony and its second parties."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. There's some outstanding Xbox Live Arcade games that got posted recently...
Braid: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...ag=multimodule;picks;title;1
Gamespot gave it 9.5/10 and EuroGamer a 10/10. It's simultaneously innovative and retro, some call it a tribute to the classic Super Mario Brothers.
Other is the self-explanatory Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/895/895096p1.html
It almost looks as though MS are reversing their shovelware XBLA strategy. Interesting to see whether it is temporary or permanent.

I did wonder what devs used on these platforms as it certainly wasn't going to be DirectX!(and console dev isn't in my radar so to speak). And by the same token I also was pretty sure Xbox would use it exclusively.

Yes, the name Xbox is actually derived from its codename, DirectX Box.
The version on the PS3 of OpenGL is kind of limited, its geared more for quick indy-type games (PSN games) than AAA/studio titles. It's a version of OpenGL ES: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL_ES"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Fun for LOTM: How many third party Wii titles in the top? How many 360?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

So who else thinks Batman: Arkham Asylum looks AMAZING? Some links here and here. Lots of screenshots in the second link.
Hopefully this'll be the Batman game we've been waiting for, what I've seen so far certainly has got my mouth watering.
I also tried out the CivRev demo. Nicely adapted to a console, but I don't think I'm going to buy it until it drops to 20-30 bucks, maybe see if any DLC comes out to expand on it.
