I did not predict nor do I approve of the Wii's runaway success as a shovelware ****fest device, which is what it is these days with a few exception -- all of which contain the names "Mario" or "Zelda" in their title.

Nevertheless, I think it's quite obvious that the limitations of the Wii's graphics and control scheme, in addition to a monotonous stream of half-assed games, do impede long-term satisfaction of its owners.


Probably, but even if so that doesn't take away from the 360 which accomplished it in the traditional gaming market.


Yeah, I'm sure Rockstar, Bungie, and Activision are completely devastated with the lack of legs on GTA4, Halo 3, and Call of Duty 4. You can bet your ass they wish they had the legs of Cooking Mama and Carnival Fun Faire.

Two things spring to mind:

1. Asher will flame it as Xbox IS the small console player according to the numbers, in terms of console game sales in a USA vs Japan frame. Of course that battle is a little one sided as you have two big japanese companies(with history) vs one american one(with less history).

2. Dr.Spike will flame it because by far and away Sims is the biggest game of all time on all platforms.....ever, much more successful than Grim Fandango.

The experience overall was pretty good. UPS delivered an empty box for me to ship it in, I secured my Xbox with the included styrofoam padding, put the shipping label on and then sealed it with a length of tape also included. Repair center had it in a day or so, and Microsoft had shipped me a replacement unit a day after they got mine. They even took care of removing my original 360 and serial # that I had registered and updated it to the new one. My 360 now has a year warranty, and I got a free month subscription to XBL

Only a year's warranty??? In Norway it's required to be at least 3 years for electronics by law, 5 if it's meant to hold long(like washing machines and cell phones).

All consoles are 1 year warranty in North America.

Yes, Norway has excessive warranty laws. It's why you pay out the ass for electronics compared to us.

Meh, I wouldn't object to longer warranties. Encouraging manufacturers to make things that actually last isn't a bad thing... and it would benefit the environment (less crap in landfills).
