  • I would like to point out to you that not only is 20/0 vs 0/20 a very different match than 8/12 vs 0/20, but you also had the lead after rd 1. It's obvious to me that having the lead after round 1 is very important against a heavily armored opponent

In my position, even you couldn't have won (8/12 trailing by 8)... of course you'd never have been in my position at all would you have

    • Match 7: Round 2

With the semis already determined all that was left to decide was who would fight who.

      Code:
      [b]The Doctor vs. Snoopy[/b]
The Doctor, already qualified for the semis, did not want to take any risks and did not attempt to strike Snoopy even once.([b]1,2,3:Miss![/b]) Snoopy was reserved in his attacks as well, apparently he wanted to be unscathed for his feast with the sharks after the end of the match. As he had lost his silver knife, he was now fighting with a metal pipe he had found near the pumping station. His first strike fell well short of hitting The Doctor who didn't even have to move. ([b]1:Miss![/b]) The weight of the pipe had damped Snoopy's speed and his next attack was easily parried.([b]2:Miss![/b]) Snoopy threw the pipe to the side in disgust and tried to punch The Doctor in the face. But The Doctor managed to duck just in time and Snoopy missed.([b]3:Miss![/b])
      [b]The Doctor: 55 HP Snoopy: 50 HP[/b]
      [b]Winner: The Doctor[/b]

Snoopy was grabbed by two large security men who were waiting in the tent and dragged unwillingly to the edge of the helipad. They lifted him over their heads and tossed him over the edge. He finally got to fly.
      Code:
      [b]Ludd vs. Grumpius Trollium II[/b]
Naturally, Ludd did not attack and Grumpius,([b]1,2,3:Miss![/b]) despite three solid hits, could not penetrate Ludd's armor.([b]1,2,3:Miss![/b]) At least he still had his honor, unlike one of the other gladiators.
      [b]Ludd: 100 HP Grumpius: 97 HP
      Winner: Ludd[/b]
Grumpius was allowed to pick his method of execution, and he chose to overdose on vicodin. This was of course rejected as being too boring, so Grumpius was shot in the ring by the snipers. His body was then thrown over board to rest with Snoopy.

      Code:
      [b]Felchum/DarkCloud vs. Theben[/b]
Theben took the same defensive stance stance as The Doctor and Ludd.([b]1,2,3:Miss![/b]) It worked just as well too, as all of Felchum/DarkCloud's attacks failed.([b]1,2,3:Miss![/b])
      [b]Felchum/DarkCloud: 72HP Theben: 82 HP[/b]
      [b]Winner:Theben[/b]
Felchum/DarkCloud was led to the mud pits. The mud was pumped up along with the oil; processed; and then pumped back down. Felchum/DarkCloud was destined to see the process first hand. He was thrown unceremoniously into one one of the pits and an engineer turned on the pumps. Felchum/DarkCloud felt the pull below and tried to escape, but the mud was too thick. Suddenly, the force increased dramatically and he was shot like a bullet down the pipe, then into the ocean and below the seabed to his final resting place.

      • Meh, I was hoping you'd go for a KO... in which case I might have had a chance with my orders (based on the shuffle of the deck). Oh well.

Yeah, it's always a good strategy to be in front after the first round.

            • I was hoping your massive ego would be too much, and cause you to attempt the KO. Unfortunately, apparently your ego decided that winning was more important than winning big

                  • It's somewhat of a tradition for me to harp on about the fact that standardising across matches wont necessarily make sense.

We have to establish matchups and see what the effective power bonus is (W-A) in each case and then decide on HP individually.

                    • Why? I assume you're trying to balance the number of successful blows that causes a KO, but why should that be balanced?

                      • The Doc & I are tied for 1st, Ludd is 3rd with Spacius in 4th... so it depends on who you pick for 1st then 2nd. Since I beat the Doc I figure I would be in 1st with the Doctor right behind me- which is only proper, of course.

Before Doc quipps in, if spaced and Doc fight each other the effective power bonus is +8.5, +17 while if I fought Ludd it's -5.5, -11. Having the same # of hp's in each battle would cause one battle to rage on much longer than the other.

                            • If someone can come up with a reasonable formula for HP values that we can agree on we will use it. Otherwise it will be the same for both matches.
