What happened to the Other Games games?

I was reading thru some of the old 'Gladiator' tourneys we used to have here (a long time ago). We also had games like Nuclear War, Mafia, and Galatic Overlord.

I don't see them anywhere now. Do people still play them? Are they in another forum? Is anyone interested in rekindling these ideas?

We rekindled NW and Gladiator (I won again, of course ) a couple of months ago, but it didn't last long. The forum doesn't really have the necesary traffic these days.

Looking back I think I enjoyed the trash-talking between gladiators the most. One in particular.

Problem is that we'd need a GM to do the dirty work. I could do that now, since I have a lot of free time atm, but we'd also need several interested players, which might be an issue b/c the old players are now just that- old, out of school with jobs, kids, etc. I'm sure the Doc would be interested, but I don't know who else would...

We advertised for ages before just to get 4 players. And a couple of those didn't want to play a second game.

Unfortunately Mafia is dead, it was difficult to get enough players at the end of Mafias lifetime

Maybe if we try again we could get players again, but I doubt it

Trouble is, all the old players moved on or had other committments, and the forum games were quite a closed shop - with no fresh blood the games died out.

Also you can get +1s anywhere these days...

I only played Mafia. The problem there at least, was that no one any longer made any effort. They just voted randomly and that was it. No roleplay, no chatter, no nothing.

I love role playing, hopefully, i will be off pain meds in another 1-2 weeks, i do hope
