    • Took forevah to find the museum of tech to get the dish, then a straight walk to the monument and that one is done.

The main reason it took forevah is I kept getting distracted by other areas in the mall. I'll be going back today to explore that area some more.

I have three separate quests that want me to go to rivet city.

        • So I once wandered by the Capitol and noticed a massive firefight going on, it looked like Talon was involved... naturally, my companions got drawn in and got killed, so I reloaded and avoided the area until I was stronger and could help clear the area out. But I forgot all about it... what was that about anyway?

          • I think it's just local color. There's one spot where you can go into a building, and come out on a walkway. Up there you'll find a note from Talon to their forward observer, since it's his post, and the link to call in artillery strikes. This starts another set-piece battle between Talon and super mutants, and you can call artillery strikes in during it. You have no control over where to place them or where they land, but you can call them in.

              • I was talking to a friend who lives in Palestine, and speaks broken English as a second language. He typed

"My bruther he stays the Labya."

It took me a few moments to realize he meant his brother had gone to Libya.

Your flag reminded me of that conversation AAHZ.

                • I spent 45 minutes looking for the fusion cell or whatever it is for the elevator still could not find it. (I know where it is now, I looked at a walkthrough for that mission)

The problem is that I thought the guy said it is on the third floor, but now I think he said it is on the 3rd floor down from here. I spent quite some time searching the lower levels, remembering that I never saw a robot the whole time down there.

And you can't just go get one, as you are trapped in the building. This would have been a skipped quest for me in the old days.

Yeah, when I got to that bit, I was prepared for a really tedious hunt 'n' retrieve quest. I was even thinking about leaving the building. (Which, if I'm reading you right, is impossible.) The robot was on the top internal floor, which made me sigh in relief. If it'd been way the hell lower down in the ruins, I'd have been pissed and probably would have given up.

Kudos to you for sticking with the game though. That really is one of those situations where the designers should have left a couple of alternative solutions. Because if you just miss one single fact in the pattern, you're just wasting time searching around.

                      And at Gramps!

                      • well, i still play Fallout 3 for a few reasons.

                        1) Bethesda has me sold for life, until they pull an EA or some crap (which i doubt will ever happen)

                        2) Role Playing my character and ignoring the main (and MOST) quests and avoiding the dreadful dialogue helps keep me interested. Currently i have a level 6 neutral "junk-dealer" who uses an old store (with a non-respawning storage safe) as a base, and is obsessed with tin cans (i use them as ammo for a custom weapon i built.) Ive even stocked the shelves with stuff to make it look my own store. I also have my own portable "garbage can" robot i bought that can carry about 3 elephants i think.

                        3) Like Civ, it cant hold my attention for moar than an hour or so, but its a game i always go back to. So if its not immersive it sure is addictive.

                        • AAHZ, have you ever played Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth?

That was the game that made me realize Bethesda was a seriously talented game design house, and that they were not afraid to take a few risks with innovative design.

                          • Havent played that particular game, but ive been following Bethesda since Daggerfall (TES2)

With regards to Fallout 3 there are 2 major bugs ATM: One is a serious memory leak, the other is a fatal system crash whenever you use the mouse scroll wheel in almost any screen.

                              Please explain/define these remarks

I am wondering if your talking making my RAM leak or are you speaking of the game forgetting something?

                              Mouse scroll..issues?

                              Thanks

                              • A memory leak basically is when the game is not using the full potential that your system provides. The program is "leaking" usable memory, even if you disable ALL non-essential background tasks.

If you use the mouse scroll wheel in the game for your pip-boy inventory (going up or down) in VATS to scroll between enemies, or any other listing that you don't feel like clicking the arrows on the screen and use the scroll wheel: your monitor will turn off, the keyboard will be unresponsive, and you need to hard-boot your system. Bethesda designed the game for the console and rigged keyboard/mouse controls post-production.
