Approx 20 hours played to level 30, Spike. Leveling is much faster in AoC than any other MMO I've been in.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

I played roughly 4 hours a day for a week. 30 is not "high"-the level cap is 80. I took it slow and did almost every quest offered, explored etc.

Then yeah, it sounds a bit lacking.

A quote from a Funcom designer on the message board, hours ago!

We're fixing "useless" things before critical problems because of how we work.

Don't get much better then that, eh?

Ah..... another wonderful change in todays patch! There are many problems with polearms. Their solution? SHRINK the length of the weapon.... which does not fix anything except make them worthless and ugly.

The following was, prior to todays patch, a spear roughly 7 feet long.

This is not a javelin, it is now a two handed spear, the game does not even have javelins. You still use this thing with two hands, can't even use a shield. Every broken issue with polearms before this change, is still broken.

I wonder if their programmers suck?

shrinking the spears is not a solution, may as well just take them out of the game.

I have a Tempest of Set and a Guardian. I *really* enjoyed the animations with spears.... they do not vary too much from the other polearms, but when you get a fatality with them..... they look really cool, the way you stake them into the ground. Now..... ugh >< Looks terrible.

Their programmers are fine. The issue is the game has been released very, very early and it is not finished.

Then why did they shrink the polearms? Obviously they would not have done it unless it were to be permanent.

What's funny is that none of the patches have updates for Rangers (my class), but I haven't really experienced any problems with them yet either.

What the ****? To me it's clearly a case of a temporary work around since it's far easier to do that than to do complex debugging and the subsequent testing.

The *only* thing they actually changed was halving the size of it "because it was having clipping issues". Not a single thing has been changed mechanically, they simply look absurd now.

From what I understand Asher, no one was complaining about the Polearm.

I assume just a few people were experiencing this clipping problem, and the only way FC knew how to fix it was to reduce the size - ruining it for everyone else. They should have just left it alone and solved the clipping issue some other way.

I have a new issue, I find villages, towns, cities to be boring as hell, there's nothing going on, especially this one village I found in Lotus Swamp, the whole place is just a bunch of really big and empty huts, and some of them have a trainer in it. They should have at least put citizens in the village, walking around, hunting, collecting stuff, talking, etc.

Polearms looked a TAD funky because sometimes they went through the enemy. One of my two main characters always used polearms, it never bugged me.... in fact I made a character using polearms for the reason that I thought the animations looked great.

Cities are as dead as a corpse and twice as exciting. They may as well be filing cabinets where you get quests as they offer NO other forms of interactivity, depth or atmosphere.

                            yeah they better fix that.

Polearms going through the enemy? I thought that was the point?

I agree, but I'm just pointing out it's wickedly retarded to assume this is permanent.

The fanboyism here is amazing, but at least someone is enjoying the game.
