  • at the cybercafe I have been to a time or two, for the most part the game played on the PC is just WOW. Occasionally an RTS or two gets played, but that is about it.

Note, you said play. NOT play on max settings. My current PC chokes on Roller Coaster Tycoon on max settings, but its not hard to tweak the settings a bit to get a very playable, and very good looking (to my eyes) game. So if I can play it with high settings, (not max) before 2023 I will consider the game won.

because lots of people buy it to play on settings BELOW max, enough so that they have made a profit, IIUC.

I don't know the tech talk for this, its something called "scaleability" IIUC. There is of course some debate about how low one can set the settings and still have a game worth spending $50 on. Thats a matter of taste I guess.

Just **** right off, LOTM, I'm so tired of your pedantic lawyerly attitude to casual endeavors.

All new Blizzard games are released for both platforms simultaneously, and have been for some time. Blizzard loves the Macintosh.

                  • Blizzard loves the money and has a following on the Macintosh, more precisely.

In college we used to love playing through levels co-op on legendary, with a big bag of weed to keep from getting too angry and frustrated. Of course, if you play on normal it's boring, and if you don't have any friends to play with, it's boring, but that's why other games exist.

2 I didn't like as much, and while 3 was great (I bought a 360 just to play it) it's not as good as CoD4.

                        • evidently the doomedness of the PC isn't enough to keep MS from seeing in it enough of threat to the 360 that they withold titles from it to avoid sales on the PC.

Your trusted source for video game news, reviews and guides, since 1999.

Microsoft Game Studios has said it will keep staggering PC and Xbox 360 releases so that desktop users have a reason to keep buying console titles.

Which is not to say the PC masterplan is any less important, argued MGS Europe business boss Peter Zetterberg - but given the platform choice in somewhere like Germany, then Xbox 360 sales would fall by the roadside.

"I would say that 90 per cent of the games that are pitched to us are on console. We're strongly perceived as a console publisher because we're the first-party publisher even though the Windows operating system is equally important to us," Zetterberg told GamesIndustry.biz.

"But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version - because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360.

"If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC," he added.

                          • Please be kind enough not to be misleading. Consider adding "IN GERMANY" to your statement, since they clearly do not apply in most countries.

In GERMANY apparently. You will not the three references to Germany in the quote. And that it was in Eurogamer is at least a hint, if not exactly definitive that its GERMANY, since there are, IIUC, many different countries in Europe. Oh and the quote is from an MS exec in EUROPE.

I take it you are familiar with the country called Germany? Its an outgrowth of the more familiar country called West Germany. To which was added the DDR, which is a game, one that mainly sells on consoles, even, IIUC, in GERMANY.
