  • The Lost Sequels

This thread is devoted to the most popular rumored games that have not as yet been made (and may never be).

I'll get the ball rolling with two that I've been longing for for years now.

    Baldur's Gate III:
I would buy it in a heartbeat, as would many die-hard RPG fans. The gameplay from this series was so enthralling, the characters so three-dimensional, that this game would be an instant success. BGIII would most likely focus on the child of the Bhaalspawn, the earlier protagonist having completed his character arc at the end of Throne Of Bhaal by accepting (or refusing) godhood.

Knights of the Old Republic III:
I found the plot of this series to be quite intriguing, certainly more so than George Lucas' insipid prequel movies. Assuming that a new engine is created (or that KotOR III is based on say, The Force Unleashed), this would be another best seller. Since the cliffhanger in KotOR II, the fans have all been dying to know the fate of Revan, the Prodigal Knight.

What sequels would you buy in a heartbeat? What games have you been waiting for forever?

I definitely think it's time we saw a true sequel to the X-Wing / TIE Fighter legacy

Diablo 3 is high on most people's list.

I'd like to see another attempt at Axis & Allies for the PC.

Yeah, I wonder what a high budget, hi-def x-wing would feel like.

-I'll admit it, I had the cheat installed that meant my pilot didn't really die.

 is right. Imagine 360/PS3 graphics + surround sound + online play (100x better than the 56k bullsh*t I had to put up with on XvT). Persistent online system. Integrated clan/flight squadron experience. Xbox 360 Flight Joystick. I can go on and on...

I don't know why LucasArts isn't developing this

              Hmm... Lots of good ideas.

I'd play Rebellion II if it was streamlined a little (and Empire at War is definitely not Rebellion II ).

I'd definitely play TIE Fighter II, hands down. TIE Fighter was a truly magnificent game.

As for Diablo III, my friend suggested that a good idea might actually be Diablo Zero, a prequel. Since the story arc is basically finished with the destruction of the soul stones and the world stone at the end of Diablo II's expansion, I think it only makes sense to tell the story of what happened before Diablo I, maybe feature a young Deckard Cain as a party member.

              That would be cool.

<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

I can't even imagine how badly EA would mangle SMAC.

Re: KOTOR III, hopefully the Bioware SW MMO will essentially be KOTOR Online (optimally set in the Jedi Civil War timeframe).

A Freelancer sequel/remake would be kickass.

I'd rather they fixed the ending of KOTOR II before they went on to KOTOR III.
