  • Who thought it would be a good idea to have left on the control pad control the radio? So I can basically only switch the station/turn off if I'm stopped or going straight?

Changing the radio station while driving is generally considered as dangerous as talking on a cell phone. Makes sense to me that it would be hard to do while turning.

Yes, actually, I can steer with my left hand and change the radio with my right simultaneously.

Yeah, I need to check those out. It won't improve the hand to hand combat or Niko's running ability, which are terrible.

So, without going into too much detail, I'd say your issues are with the control of the game. QUOTE]

      Yes, that's what I said.

I also disagree that the storyline is basic and nothing new. Did you even play GTA1/2/3s?
I didn't mean as compared to other games in the series, I meant in gaming in general and even movies. For crying out loud, I've seen reviews comparing the story (favorably) to the Godfather.

Its a good-to-great game, in the mid 8's for me, don't get me wrong. Its definitely in the top 5 360 games i've played.

I have more issues with trying to turn off the radio while steering in game. pressing left for a second or two usually gets me off the road or into a car quickly.

Turing your radio off in your own car involves a split second of one hand off the wheel hitting the power knob or a quick turn on the volume control.

This is going to hurt you so bad: SOURCE ? I know there isn't one that can debunk me so that is why I put it in caps. As far as the storyline, yes, people say this game moves videogames into an 'art form' like a Scorcese movie. Not that his movies are that great to begin with. But please.

            • asleep, maybe you just don't like the GTA like sandbox games?

I personally consider the GTAIII series to be the greatest video/PC gaming franchise of all time. So, I'm loving GTAIV and the evolution of the series. I'd give it at least a 9.5/10, IMO. I'm also enjoying the story. It's more fleshed out than GTAIII... probably won't reach a really great RPG (Fallout comes to mind), but its pretty damned good.

And, FTR, I don't think I ever play with the radio when turning.

              • The problem is that I've recently been playing Crackdown and Dead Rising, both sandbox games that do certain things better than GTA.

How would they be able to differentiate between age of buyers and players? It's impossible, that's why kids are gaining access to GTA4.

surveys need a basis. Random calls to households, magazine response cards, websites, whatever. Its quite conceivable the surveys could be missing the younger set of players. Its also not like this hasnt been controversial enough that ESA knows what answer it wants from the survey.

Anyway, the ESA "fact" is about gamers in general. Certainly there are different ages for different genres and franchises - I suspect TBS gamers pull the average up for example, as do Madden players (not to mention the Wii grandmas in their nursing homes). OTOH its not clear to me how genre specific Wiggy intended to be. Its also not clear to me that GTA4 is hitting as young an audience as some might think - its an established franchise now, and my impression is a big portion of the players are people who played one of the earlier incarnations as teens or preteens, but have remained loyal to the franchise.

                          • I'm not a fan of sandbox games which is why I've never really got into the series. I'll probably check this one out though as the story seems quite involved and a couple of mates who aren't usual gamers are going to get it, so MP will be an option.

Interesting though to (across several forums) people are already starting to back away from the initial 'this is teh greatest game evar' response.

                            • Yeah, it's obviously not the greatest game ever. But it does have a pretty strong story, and it is very amusing in several ways.

                              • Yes, GTAIII was the greatest game ever... I haven't gotten far enough into IV to see if it can wrestle the crown away.
