I was standing on the street corner near my apartment, and I had been standing for about 5 minutes. I was looking out at the intersection. I guy started crossing the street and a car came flying by and hit him, and kept going. A bystander behind me mentioned 'That car hit that guy and kept going.' About a minute goes by and I hear sirens. Ambulance pulls up in the middle of the intersection, guy jumps out of the passenger side, runs over to the guy on the ground and starts doing CPR. I guess no luck as he was laying motionless for awhile already. The paramedic got up, walked back over to the ambulance hopped back in and pulled away. Leaving the dead guy in the street.

I pushed a guy and made him drop his coffee. He put up his hands to fight and I ran away. He chased me around a corner and a cop was there and pulled a gun on him. I watched the guy get "arrested" which amounted to threats from the cop and then the guy voluntarily walked and got into the back of the cop car without ever being hand-cuffed. Then the cop drove him away. Oh yeah, and this happened right outside the police station. Maybe the cop was driving him out into the woods to do bad things.

Not sure why all of the initial talk said the 360 had popup issues, in the video it seems to occur more on the PS3 if anything?

The lower-resolution, no-AA, blur filter was one thing.

Now there's the Sony & Rockstar acknowledged issue of game freezes affecting the PS3 version and major online stability issues affecting the PS3 version. It really shouldn't be all that surprising, it's been known for at least a year that the 360 was the lead console and it was subsequently ported to the PS3. That's always problematic.

There's been a handful of reported cases, but there's far, far more on the PS3. And considering the 360 outsold PS3 over 2-1 according to reports...

Rockstar has only acknowledged freezing problems on the PS3 version.

This is perhaps the most overrated game I've ever played, what with the 10's across the board.

At this point (I've played about 6 hrs, 15%storyline), I'd rate it around an 8.5.

The controls are just too terrible.

Press A to jog, tap to run?

That's what the analog pad is for, it registers how hard you press.

Niko's running/turning is pathetic and he's friggin slow. (I wish the dev's played crackdown)

Cars handle like ass, do they not have abs? Fairly slow turns and I spin out. Bikes-ugh.

Who thought it would be a good idea to have left on the control pad control the radio? So I can basically only switch the station/turn off if I'm stopped or going straight?

Fighting is terrible-especially hand-to-hand.

Phone calls are like dead-rising's. This is not a good thing.

The world is large, but I can't go into whatever building I want to. I can't even talk to random people on the streets, I just run over/punch/shoot them for interaction.

No checkpoints for missions. Ok, I know I failed, but do I really have to jack a new car and drive 10 blocks to the real "start" of the mission?

storyline is pretty basic, nothing new or overly interesting here.
game is series of taxiing people around/fetch quests/etc.
Ooh boy, lets go with roman to play pool or jakob to play darts for some male bonding.

I don't think it deserves a 10, but I think at least a 9 is appropriate.

Some of your complaints are just bizarre. Like the radio thing -- do you usually control the radio when turning corners in real life?

Regarding the controls -- they take some getting used to. The one thing you need to realize is the game is not a simulator, it is heavily stylized. Everything is exaggerated dramatically in the cars for instance -- from the propensity to flip and get airborne, to how easy it is to collide with other cars and not have it affect your momentum too much, to the way cornering is handled. Braking does lock up the wheels, you basically can't turn and brake at the same time. You need to adapt to that and take it as a gameplay choice, which is what it is (it's always been like that in GTA).

Have you considered changing your controller options? Some of your concerns may be addressed there.

So, without going into too much detail, I'd say your issues are with the control of the game. I got acclimatized without an hour or so, maybe some people take longer, maybe others should consider other control schemes.

I also disagree that the storyline is basic and nothing new. Did you even play GTA1/2/3s?

Because game reviewers are generally unintelligent and easily manipulated by advertisers and publishers. They do, after all, get free games, hardware, advance preview builds, etc direct from the developers.

What would you expect from a bunch of 25-40 year olds who decided to spend their lives rating videogames that mostly kids play.
