"character" mode is the chase cam i think. "strategy" mode is the one that doesn't chase your character, nor turn with him.

I rotate the camera with the middle mouse button.
While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

damn I"m getting some lag with all the people around the harvest festival. same problem I had when I first got the game I remember now. and I'm still trying to dick around with the settings to find something useable.

for some reason my right click menu disappeared, and I can't seem to be able to re-enable it in the options. I need the right click munu to perform a sleight of hand on the man in green for the festival quest. It doing it when I first started the game, but now right click does nothing.

here is my current set up. the ones on the top left I unchecked, but I may recheck them when I get close to an edge of a map and see how it performs. This seems to get me the most control over the camera. Restarting the game (in an effort to get my right click menu back) seems to have improved the lag a little- I hope. this setup is in strategy mode, I tried character mode, it just doesn't suit my needs- it just doesn't feel right. This mode isn't too bad except for the lag. this seems most similar to what I used in nwn. I click the ground to move (though I can still use the wasd setup), left click hold to move camera around. I know I can hold center mouse button down to move camera, but left click is easier. So I can rotate around to see where to go, then just click there. I feel better having more control.

and don't ask me what that cat is. I have no idea what happened. I picked up those 2 henchman, and I guess they casted the cat and bat. I don't know what the hell I'm doing

edit: I see you have to hold down the right mouse button . okay now I think I"m ready to actually progress in this game . I even read some of the manual. and I put the textures on medium, seems to help with the lag. I wish I could run the game on higher settings though.

I wish I could help you witht he camera settings for each mode, but the most I can tell ya is that character mode is the chase cam.

Some have likened strategy mode to BG2 style, but I don't see it...It zooms you out and has the camera sort of in a somewhat fixed position, but..

The nwn2 forums have people posting their exact camera options setups. That may help. I suppose you can eventually get used to it. But, it still seems odd. Outdoors is ok actually. Select the "move character" under "left click and hold" for a simulated wow type movement.

The dungeons is where it just fails. I am still trying it though.

The one thing you have to keep in mind though, is what mode you are in. If you forget that you are in strategy mode and are wondering why certain options seem to have no effect, then that's why. I have come to terms using character mode for some things and strategy for others...I think..(should it be this hard?)

I was cursing at the game the other night and my wife came in wondering what was going on...

seems the same as NWN1 to me. I'm not sure what the problem is. My above setup seems to be working. Though it is annoying having to reposition the camera all the time. And it's still kind of jerky. sometimes the camera seems to swing around too fast, other times, too slow. The game just isn't smooth. but I don't play it like a mmo. It's less action packed, and I use pause alot (impossible in an mmo obviously). Unfortunately I can't seem to find an auto pause like in BG2. Would be useful when an enemy goes down. sometimes I can't tell if they are killed. Sometimes it's even difficult to see the enemies which is frustrating.

I'm having fun I suppose. Maybe that's because there are no other rpg's out there . mmo's don't count. it's been a while since I had a real dialogue tree. Story seems interesting enough so far. But nothing special.

the game is playable for me now. Interface doesn't bother me too much, just took a while to get used to. As I said, could use some improvement. I find it easier than Arx Fatalis, in fact, I never got past the first area in that game. That was too much an action game anyways. In that you had to do certain movements to get thrust attacks etc, not to mention casting spells was a pain.

so I'm going to give this a chance, and attempt to finish it (barring any game stopping bugs). As of right now (i'm only level 4) I'd rate it 6 out of 10.

first challenging battle. bandit chief near that fort. I have 3 level 5's and a level 4 teifling thief.

going to have to reload this. I have all my party ai's turned off. as sometimes they seem to like to attack people on their own, and I don't like that. And the pathfinding can be terrible in this game at times.

I think there are 6 mobs in the room. Maybe I'll go for the wizard first this time. I'm not sure how I can beat this battle. I guess this where some strategy can come into play. going to have to use the potions and all that. I haven't had much gold to buy much armor, I bought a couple molds to make a couple chest pieces, but can't find stuff for legs and such.

and I still haven't figured out enemy ai. sometimes they go after my mage alot (real bad when my mage is my main and initiating conversations that turn into fights). I'm so used to the wow threat system, I can't figure this out .

edit: k fighting at the doorway helped. ole bg2 trick. mobs can't pass through you like in wow. and a potion of bulls strenght, bless, and the one that increases const helped out.

I'm not that new in GW, I played Prophecies two years ago. And I always called it a good and enjoyable game.

You should join Req (with Jamski and me, though I'm inactive atm) - it would be fun.
I would certainly enjoy hanging around with you guys. GW is an amazing game if you play it with the right people.

As for joining your guild, well... as far as I understand, it's some kind of "über" guild. Keep in mind that I'm practically a newbie, wearing 2 years old gear (and not even fancy farmed stuff), having only the skills of 2 professions (E and Me) completely capped, not owning Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North and not understanding most of the new concepts and even most skill abbreviations. There's not much I could offer such a guild. I would be rather a drag and I would hate the feeling to be one.

Additionally, my outright refusal to accept runs and gear hand-downs (you know my "hardcore" mindset - I wear what I earned) - would probably tick off most people.

That said, so far I had fun doing almost everything with bots (not even heroes), but I'm now at the point where the missions start to become tad more difficult (Divinity Coast), that slows down a bit.

Secondly (you're not going to like this part so prepare yourself) the best games coming out at the moment are Xbox 360 games, and it was those I was referring to.
It was expected, sadly. I'm not going to buy a console, as this would probably mean an additional TV set. I don't have, neither do I need one, and I can't occupy my wife's one for endless gaming sessions.

I'm toying with the thought to return to Vanguard for a while. From the people who stuck with it I hear that some things greatly improved. But I'll do some more research before I sign up again.

I despatately need a new catching game. BtS is supposed to be great, or so they say, ... sadly I can't get around to play it, being bored to death after an hour or so...

As for NWN2... I made it to Neverwinter last try with level 7, before the city sluggishness (it's still horrible, might even have become worse) finally ticked me off.

yeah I am worried how the big city will slow my comp down.

For now I need to figure out how to cure disease. It's been so long since I've been in dnd rules, I can't remember how. I don't have a healer. My rogue has 0 dexterity and 0 constitution. not good.

I gather you're on the Fort Locke cemetery then? Yea, it's dire there.

You can cure disease with healer packs. Works always out of combat (you always succeed by taking 20 then) and sometimes even in (you might miss the throw, though).

If you already suffered stats loss, you might have to look out for potions or scrolls of lesser restoration.

Oh and by the way, Neeshka is of absolutely no use on the graveyard. It's a shame you can't leave her behind; another design flaw, this time of the campaign, not the game. Mobs there are immune to sneak attacks (her main damage source) and some have damage reduction too, which also hurts her already crippled damage output. Also, her fortitude saves are abysimal (even more with lowered constitution), as are her will saves (later she'll be very prone to charmings, tho there's an armor to prevent this). And top of all, being a Tiefling she has -1 level adjustment, which is very well a biggie at this low level and lowers here already puny HPs even more.

her only use is to disarm traps, open locks, but she can't do that now with lowered dexterity. It was at 10, but I was unable to open a door that needed a 29 roll, so I tried resting some more hoping it would go away. I rested a whole bunch of times . It didn't go away when both my dext, and const got down to 0. I have like 4 hitpoints.

She is useful in that she can provide some additional damage. I'd rather not have a tiefling though, and rather a rogue/fighter or something.

I badly need a healer, I take it one is not available this early. I should have made my main a healer I suppose. My main is a wizard.

One thing I noticed is you can make warlocks. Is this in 3.5 ruleset? I'm certain it wasn't in NWN1. I should have made one to learn what they are, but I prefer mages/wizards.

You'll get a healer as soon as you're done with Fort Locke, so don't worry.

Warlocks appeared NWN2, I'm not sure if they're in DnD 3.5. They suck as class, though. Many say they're gimped and broken.

                                good, I won't try them

good thing I have that item that casts a light spell (I have the cantrip too though). This game is dark. I'm in the crypts at the graveyard. It's dark and scary in there

I tried the healing kit, my chars don't have much healing skill. The disease seems to be gone, but my stats are still down. Guess I'll have to find lesser restoration somewhere. Haven't found one yet.

edit: and I can't bash through this door . I'm going to have to figure something out.

re-edit: got it the preist at the fort healed me (including my stats). interestingly stuff I dropped on the ground doesn't seem to go away.
