    • Had a go at the original Halo (PC) and so far it's been disappointing. That's a bit strange actually, because I can't see why it shouldn't be a fun shooter in the mould of Doom (that game is still enjoyable to me). The weapons are cool and there's plenty of room for movement, yet it feels shallow and monotonous. The level design is particularly unimaginative. If Halo 2 and 3 are essentially like it but with better graphics I definitely wouldn't buy those. Maybe the trouble is that it attempts to create an immersive element and a storyline, but just cannot compete with Half Life and Call of Duty in those aspects.

      • Halo 2 and 3 had far better level design.

        • Halo and Halo 2 were about the same in this respect - and both strong.

          • All the way in, all the way out. Revist same level after the flood all the way in, all the way out.

            • That level (admittedly poor) is the exception though.
