Like Goldeneye, a lot of its fun is in the social nature of it at parties or online than at its core being a shooter. Halo and Goldeneye were games most people played, even if they're not usually FPS fans. There's a certain "it" factor a well-designed game gets that lesser games (like Metroid Prime 3, for example) never seem to achieve.

Halo isn't just another FPS. If it was, it wouldn't sell so many so quickly so often.

His was incoherent. I cant imagine why being egotistical would logically lead one to buy one game rather than another. Makes no sense, unless theres something unstated behind it. And the rest was either not serious (as i interpreted it - just a way of saying this game is bad, and i dont know why people like it - like you and Fords, I guess) or its a statement about astrology.

Youre comment on the other hand, was coherent, but in a misleading kinda way. Yeah, if you have no friends the MP of Halo wouldnt matter so much to you. But there are those of us who have lots of RL friends, not one of whom that we are of plays FPS games.

Indeed in many social circles, announcing you play FPS would be a good way to get your friends looking askance at you.

So, now we've got Bioshock with perfect 10's, Halo 3 with perfect 10's, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Mario Galaxy will probably get perfect 10's also. In fact, a lot of upcoming games look to be in the perfect 10 category.


So what are we going to do when games even better than those come out? Turn it up to 11?

But I have lots of friends, which is why I will only bother playing games worthy of my time. Halo doesn't fit the bill, it's a mediocre game. Its story sucks, its graphics suck, always did; its attempt to make whats-his-name badass like Duke is pathetic and I just can't help but laugh at the whole "try-hardness" feel of the whole game.

I said ego because I found that those who have an ego problem (i.e. Asher), tend to side with those that also have an ego problem, (i.e. Halo).

And the other statement about astrology was about a strange phenomenon surrounding this wave of Halo-Love, when in fact if you look at the game with some realistic sense, you will find that the game is not worth revering over.

I do play online FPS's, I prefer the likes of ET (which, btw, I am quite good at, unless I have been playing against 10 year olds the whole time, but I seriously doubt it.) and will be looking forward to the upcoming TF2.

Stop driving SUV's, don't cross the road when cars are coming, don't put your finger in an electrical socket and don't go around behaving like Halo is amazing.

Amen. Halo 1 was particularly terrible, what with the reused levels and the retarded plot. Halo 2 had a similarly nondescript, short, letdown singleplayer. Multiplay with random prepubescent kids is no fun, and since I have no friends with an xbox360 and who like FPS's, that's not a draw for me either. Meh, nothing to see there.

It is particularly sad there is a $129 version of this game with a model helmet of Master Chief. Who the hell would buy that? I guess parents in the suburbs who see Halo 3 on their kids' Christmas lists and spring for the biggest option.

I can see the appeal of Halo 3. But the hype is just absurd.

hehe, good one kuci, though I didnt think Civ4 sucked coz of its graphics, I just hated the fact it was near impossible to change the graphics to what I would have preferred.

The game itself is another story which I have no conclusion as I don't play the game.
